Greetings, what do you say we talk p**p! You know how everyone has a knack for something? Well one of mine is house breaking dogs. Who knew??lol. Soooo, you brought one of our fur babies home to be part of your family. Now what? STEP ONE; figure out a small area to block off with a floor that is easy to clean, like say the bathroom. When you give a puppy a large area to wonder in it makes it that much harder to find a blue pad if that’s what your training on. If you want your pup to go out side on a leash for potty, then loop the leash over the door handle and bring your pup to THAT DOOR ALLTHE TIME. Take little treats out with you so when puppy does the job you REWARD RIGHT THEN, NOT WAITING TILL YOU GO BACK IN THE HOUSE, RIGHT AT THE TIME. Some people put bells on the door so pup can learn to paw them to signal. STEP TWO; So as your pup gets a little older and can handle a bit more space....still able to find that blue pad, start moving the pad closer and closer to the door you take pup out for potty. Plan on a good 6 weeks for pup to be house trained with any kind of regularity...AND REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION! If pup has an accident, it’s because you didn’t watch the body language and take him out( at least every two hours). NO YELLING, AND ABSOLUTELY NO RUBBING PUPS NOSE IN IT. Not only is that useless, it cruel and a horribly way to treat your dog. GOT QUESTIONS? Shoot me a post. I will answer what ever I can. NEXT POST; BENEFITS OF A DOG DOOR(which is what I use). Blessings Laina.
