This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

The results are in, and we have our Summer Pet Photo Contest winner!

These two clearly came prepared with the sunglasses, the summer wardrobe, and the attitude to match. We’re pretty sure they knew they were going to win before they even stepped into the pool.

Congratulations to our winners, Elsie & Hank, and thank you to everyone who entered! We loved seeing all of your adorable summer adventures.

Here's to our canine friends, to the slobber, the barks, the whines, the drifts of hair in the hallway, and to the tails thumping the floor, the adoring looks, the readiness for play, the leaning on our leg, and all the loyalty in their hearts.

Don't let today, National Dog Day, go by without patting a dog on the head, or rubbing a dog on the belly, or scratching a dog behind the ears. It'll lower your heart rate, and it'll make the dog's day!

Give your pup BOOPS from all of us at VCA Rock Creek.

Happy 4th of July!
Here are some tips to keep your pets calm during the festivities.

06/30/2026

Does your pet get anxious during fireworks?

Now is the time to request sedatives/antianxiety medication. Per Oregon law, your pet must have had a wellness exam within the past 12 months to receive a prescription.

Please call by Wednesday, July 1st to allow enough time to have your pet's medication ready before July 3. We ask for 24 to 72 hours to process all medication requests.
