🐾 Meet Chester the Cheetoh 🧡

Yesterday, a very special little kitten found his way to us in a way we wish never had to happen.

This tiny boy, estimated to be only 5–8 weeks old, was found alone and crying at a window during the cold night we just had. We do not know how long he had been outside or how he ended up here, but it appears that he was dumped.

And somehow, despite everything, he is the absolute sweetest little guy. He is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and already has everyone wrapped around his tiny paw.

Chester has a serious issue with one of his eyes and needs veterinary care as soon as possible. Depending on what the veterinarian finds, there is a possibility that the eye may need to be removed. Right now, our priority is simply getting him examined, comfortable, treated, and on the road to feeling better.

As many of you know, cats and dogs are not typically the focus of our rescue work, but unfortunately cats are dumped here far too often. When a baby like Chester shows up needing help, we simply cannot turn away and leave the situation unmanaged.

This is one of those times when we could really use our community’s help.

We are raising funds for Chester’s:
🐾 Veterinary examination and treatment
🐾 Possible eye surgery
🐾 Medications and follow-up care
🐾 Food, litter, and day-to-day care
🐾 Neuter and future veterinary needs

🐷 LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BUILD PIG SHELTERS!

We are searching for a local builder, woodworker, construction program, high school shop class, or handy individual who may be able to help us build 10 outdoor shelters for the pigs at Rooted In Love Sanctuary.

Last year, we purchased several shelters that were originally built as large dog houses by a high school construction/shop class, and they have worked wonderfully for our pigs. We would like to have the new shelters built as close as possible to the same style and construction so everything matches throughout the sanctuary.
The photos attached show the style of shelter we currently have and the basic construction plans we started with. The biggest difference is that ours were made with a wider entrance for the pigs. We do NOT need doors installed.

We need 10 shelters total:
4 shelters — approximately 4' x 6' x 4'
1 shelter — approximately 4' x 8' x 4'
5 shelters — approximately 4' x 4' x 4'

These will be used as weather-protected sleeping and resting shelters for our sanctuary pigs, so they need to be sturdy enough for outdoor use and Michigan weather.

⏰ TIME FRAME: We are hoping to have all 10 completed within the next month sooner would be even better!

If you build structures like these, know someone who does, work with a school construction program, or know of a business that may be willing to take on this project, PLEASE reach out to us.
Even if you cannot personally help, sharing and tagging builders, contractors, schools, woodworking programs, shed companies, or handy friends would be greatly appreciated!

As the sun was going down on the farm last night this picture was snapped to share this minor update on PIG CITY ... You can see our new community building that is now in place in the middle of what will be Pig City. The wood posts are in place (100 more were put in since this was taken) It has been a slow process but many thank yous to Darin Nunn, Justin Helfer Donald Stecher and Calista Gladys and Chloe Melissa for al their hard work... it has been grueling I know, especially during this week hot temps and humidity...and storms...
This project has taken way longer than anticipated but it's well underway! We have hit many road bumps, tractor debacles, delays, limited help, and the clock just spins as time flies by!

STILL NEEDED

🚨VOLUNTEER TRANSPORT NEEDED — DEFIANCE, OHIO → MICHIGAN 🐷🐷

We’re looking for someone who would be willing to help us pick up two sweet pigs in Defiance, Ohio and transport them back to our place. ❤️

🐷 Two pigs — both about 4 years old
🐷 Not huge and easy to handle
🐷 Indoor pigs who are friendly and used to people
🐷 Should be a very easy load-up
🐷 They can ride safely in two large crates, which WE CAN PROVIDE

We just need someone with a vehicle that can accommodate the two large crates and who is willing to make the trip.

📍 Pickup: Defiance, Ohio
🏡 Destination: Rooted In Love Rescue & Sanctuary in Michigan
🚙 Crates provided
