Before I post about any results.. I think the entire team needs a shoutout.
I was down bad this entire week with a crippling infection and then developed some kind of cold on top of that. I couldn’t eat, breathe or sleep and was just feeling exhausted and weak. When I left PA on Sunday I felt completely fine but that night I just crashed.
Everybody, but especially my sister & Jen, immediately stepped up to get me antibiotics & pain meds, kept me out of the ER because it really was that bad, made sure I had food that I could eat, supplied me with caffeine every morning (Jeff specifically made DutchBro’s and smoothie runs every 2.5 seconds) and dinner every night, and kept me on track every day. I basically didn’t have to think about much of anything besides riding and coaching and for that I am so unbelievably grateful. I seriously couldn’t have done it without them.
Kenzie and Jayli were also competing this week! Despite being busy themselves, they helped me groom horses, tack up, set jumps & were ringside for every moment. They were especially helpful for making forgotten bridle number barn runs lol
Evan hauled the horses to and from (it’s 8:30pm right now and we won’t get home til midnight.. ugh) & every time we took the horses on a walk, the stalls would be clean and fresh hay and water was given.. I wonder who did that!
Some of my students came down to support us on Wednesday and Thursday! They helped me hand walk, take braids out, hang stall guards that Armonico kept dissembling because he’s bad and insane, made food and drink runs when I felt like I was dying, and of course cheered us on every step of the way.
Makaylah is basically our in house photographer at this point and captured every single moment from in the ring to behind the scenes. She’s pretty dang talented ya know, go book with her! MAK Photography
Bailey and Emma stayed home to keep the barn running. It’s not too often that you can find people willing to pitch in and keep the horses fed so you can go play in KY for a week. You know what’s even more impressive? I’ve barely heard from them. Either the whole barn imploded and I’m coming home to nothing or they’re just really on top of it.
I can’t forget about everyone who couldn’t make it but were cheering from home. I love & appreciate you all!
I am on my way home, exhausted, sick and worn out, but feeling so lucky to have such an amazing barn family and some pretty incredible horses.
You guys might not see or hear from me for a couple days, I think I need to catch up on a weeks worth of sleep and health 😂
