What a day! Thank you to everyone who came out for Walk or Treat and showed up for Height of Hope Senior Dog Rescue. The costumes, the parade, the dogs having the time of their lives, this is exactly why we love doing this every year.

Believe it or not…this little fluff came to us exhibiting resource guarding at a very young age. Thankfully, his family reached out for help and we were able to change the course of the behavior pattern 🐾😊

He knows there’s a treat in the pouch, and that’s totally fine!

We don’t hide the food from Spidey, and you don’t need to either.

Instead, we follow the right order: say the word → ask for the behavior → then give the treat.

If you’ve been hiding treats so your dog can’t tell, you can stop. You don’t need to trick them; just ask first, then reward!

Inter dog aggression is one of the most stressful things a dog owner can deal with, especially when it is happening inside your own home.

The tension. The constant management. The feeling that you cannot just let your dogs be dogs together.

It takes more than basic obedience to work through that. It takes understanding why it is happening, addressing it at the root, and rebuilding trust between dogs who have lost it.

Nola did the work. And now she gets to just be home, with her sister, the way it was always meant to be.

They are telling you the wrong thing about crate training.

We see the same advice repeated online, and it does not help you or your dog.

A crate used correctly is not a punishment. It is a space your dog learns to seek out and love.

An oversized crate does not help. It removes the cozy feeling that makes crate training work well.

Releasing your dog the moment they whine does not teach calm. It teaches them that whining gets what they want.

None of this is about being strict. It is about knowing what actually works so you can build good habits from day one.
