🐾 September is Animal Pain Awareness Month! 🐾

Did you know that pets don’t always show pain in obvious ways? Unlike people, our dogs and cats can’t tell us when something hurts, and many animals are instinctively good at hiding signs of pain.

That’s why it’s important to pay attention to small changes in behavior or routine.

Some signs your pet may be experiencing pain include:

🐶 Reluctance to walk, run, jump, or use stairs
🐱 Hiding more than usual or becoming less social
🛏️ Difficulty getting up, lying down, or finding a comfortable position
🍽️ Changes in appetite or drinking
😴 Sleeping more or seeming unusually tired
🧸 Decreased interest in play or favorite activities
😾 Changes in mood, such as irritability or aggression
🧼 Changes in grooming habits
🚽 Changes in bathroom habits
💨 Panting, restlessness, trembling, or other unusual behaviors

Pain can be acute, such as pain from an injury or surgery, or chronic, such as pain associated with arthritis or other long-term conditions.

The good news? Your pet doesn't have to live with pain. There are many ways veterinarians can help manage pain and improve a pet’s comfort and quality of life.

❤️ If you notice changes in your pet, don’t assume they’re simply “getting old.” Changes in mobility, behavior, appetite, or daily routines may be signs that something is bothering them.

When in doubt, give us a call. Your pet’s comfort matters! 🐾

🎉🐾 Happy Birthday, Steph! 🐾🎉

Today we're celebrating one of our amazing Client Service Representatives, Steph!💙

If you've visited our hospital, you've probably been welcomed by Steph's bright smile and positive attitude. She's always looking on the bright side, bringing great energy to our front desk, and making everyone who walks through our doors feel at ease.

Steph has a soft spot for the lovable, oversized goofballs that come to visit us (the bigger the dog, the better! 🐶💕). Outside of work, she loves photography and enjoys making lasting memories with her family and friends.

Steph, thank you for everything you do for our team, our clients, and their pets. We hope your birthday is filled with happiness, laughter, wonderful memories, and maybe even a few extra hugs from your favorite four-legged friends!

🎂🥳 Help us wish Steph a very Happy Birthday in the comments below! 🎈💙

💧🐾 July is Pet Hydration Awareness Month! 🐾💧

Did you know your pet's body is made up of up to 80% water? 💦 Water is essential for nearly every bodily function, including supporting healthy organs, aiding digestion, lubricating joints, regulating body temperature, and helping the kidneys flush waste from the body. During the hot summer months, staying hydrated is more important than ever!

Here are a few easy ways to help keep your furry family members hydrated:
🐶 Provide fresh, clean water at all times
🧼 Wash water bowls daily to help prevent bacteria buildup
🚗 Bring water and a portable bowl on walks, hikes, road trips, and other outings
💧 If your pet prefers running water, consider a pet fountain
🥣 For pets that need a little encouragement, adding canned food to their diet (or asking your veterinarian about other safe ways to increase moisture intake) can help.

Keep an eye out for signs of dehydration:
⚠️ Lethargy or decreased energy
⚠️ Loss of appetite
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Dry or sticky gums
⚠️ Dry nose
⚠️ Sunken eyes
⚠️ Skin that doesn't quickly spring back when gently lifted over the shoulders (decreased skin elasticity)

🐱 Cat owners: A decrease in water intake can contribute to urinary problems, including urinary blockages, which can quickly become life-threatening—especially in male cats. If your cat is straining in the litter box, crying while trying to urinate, producing little to no urine, or hiding, seek veterinary care immediately.

Remember, changes in your pet's drinking habits—whether they're drinking much less or much more than usual—can sometimes be an early sign of an underlying medical condition. If you notice a significant change, give us a call.

Let's work together to keep our pets happy, healthy, and hydrated all summer long! 💙🐶🐱

💙🤍❤️🎆 🐾The Fourth of July is almost here!🐾🎆❤️🤍💙

For many pets, fireworks aren't a celebration—they can be a source of stress, fear, and anxiety.

If your dog or cat becomes nervous during fireworks, now is the time to make a plan. Medications like Trazodone can help some pets stay calmer and more comfortable during the holiday, but prescriptions often require an exam and time to fill.

🐾 Don't wait until the last minute!
📞 Call our hospital today to discuss your pet's needs and request any medication refills before the holiday rush.
