Thank you to our foster and volunteer, Miss Madi, for helping our dogs during their time at BCHS! 🐾
She says, "I’m Madi. I’m a volunteer and current canine foster! I am also a member of the Humane Education Committee, helping lead monthly Foster Orientation Seminars for those interested in learning more about fostering with BCHS.
When I first agreed to foster a humane investigation dog, I knew there would be challenges. But it is unbelievably rewarding to watch them learn what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Watching their bond with my son grow has been especially meaningful, giving him firsthand experience with the patience, compassion, consistency, and training animals need. They've also learned to coexist with our resident dog, become comfortable in our home, and gain so much confidence.
Fostering isn’t always easy, but BCHS has provided incredible support through medical care, check-ins, and weekly training. Seeing them go from nervous and uncertain to confident, affectionate, and eager for love makes the hard days' worth it. I’m grateful to give them a safe, loving home. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
I am hoping our story encourages families of all kinds to look into fostering."
