Friends and followers...we need your help! This pup needs 2 things.... first and foremost, a name. And second (but just as important!) evaluation and treatment by our vet team. And we have an easy way for you to be a part of his rescue story.

For every $5 dollar donation, your name will be entered into a drawing. $5 is one entry, $20 is 4 entries, and so on. On Monday at noon we will draw one name from all of the entries, and that lucky donor gets the honor of giving this handsome guy his new name. All funds raised will go towards the medical care he will need in the days to come.

He and several others were pulled today from a tragic living situation. We're so thankful for all of the law enforcement agencies and rescues that partnered together to get the dogs the help they desperately needed. Our pup in particular appears to be suffering the consequences of poor nutrition and excessive crating - he has severe carpal extension in the left front leg, pain in his right front leg, and an unsteady gait in the hind end. He's getting x-rays tomorrow so we can better assess what he will need. Stay tuned for updates and thank you for any support you can offer!

One of our young patients, Waffles, was in this week for his next round of kitten vaccines. He's a Maine Coone kitten, and he's also polydactyl! Can anyone guess how many toes Waffles has in all?

We have some exciting news - Silver Lake Veterinary Services is now scheduling appointments for Mondays through Thursdays - this added availability will give us the flexibility to better serve you and your pets. SLVS provides mobile and house call services to Highland, Edwardsville, and the surrounding communities. We offer wellness checks and annual vaccines, chronic condition management, surgery, and hospice/palliative and end of life care. As fall finally arrives and the farmers are busy in the fields, Dawson would like to remind everyone that corn cobs do not make good chew toys for dogs... They often cause obstructions when ingested and surgery may be needed to remove them.
