ng at 3208 Colvin St provides 4800 square feet of dog-friendly space including a full-size show ring and a sun-lit mezzanine for our day boarding dogs to enjoy. This family-owned and operated business is run by a husband-and-wife team, benefiting from the expertise of Kevin Gilliam, a top-rated dog trainer at the Olde Towne School for Dogs for the last 6+ years, and the management experience of Kim Gilliam, with an Ivy League MBA and background in business. Frolick Dogs offers owners new ways to engage with their dogs. We also recognize that having a happy and healthy dog takes more than just exercise. Frolick Dogs hosts a series of wellness seminars throughout the year with experts coming in to educate our community on important topics such as when to use first aid versus go to the vet, navigating the myriad of food choices, considerations for exercising an older dog, maintaining grooming between appointments, early detection of breed-specific ailments, holistic dog care, etc.

Dri Buchanan will discuss summer precautions to take with your pup to avoid heat stroke and other common injuries. Heat-related illness can be caused by hot cars, hot pavement, and strenuous activity. It's important for pet parents to consider a variety of outdoor safety factors in the summer months including hydration, parasites like ticks and heartworm, water safety, and common overuse injuries as you increase your pup's outdoor activity in the nicer weather.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Buchanan, Founding Lead Veterinarian at Livewell Animal Hospital in Alexandria, is originally from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and graduated from the VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2011. Over the years she has practiced in North Carolina and California before her family settled in Alexandria in 2023. She's been certified in veterinary rehabilitation and acupuncture for more than a decade, and enjoys blending these skills with traditional general practice to offer integrative options for her patients—especially those facing chronic pain or mobility challenges.
