Vet Recommended Homemade Dog Food Recipe (especially good for sensitive stomachs):
Ingredients:
5 lbs ground meat (try 3 lbs turkey & 2 lbs lean beef)
1 cup white rice
1 cup of old fashioned oats
1 bag frozen chopped spinach
5-6 cups of water
1/2 bag frozen peas & carrots
1/2 bag frozen green beans
1 small sweet potato, peeled
1 can pumpkin (use plain pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling)
1 cup plain yogurt/cottage cheese or a calcium supplement
Directions:
I use a really big pot, because this makes a lot!
First I cover the bottom of the pot with olive oil, then I cook the meat until it’s just cooked. Then layer rice, oats, then spinach on top of the meat and add the boiling water. (Using boiling water cuts the cooking time) Cover, cook until the rice is well done, really soft. Then add the pumpkin & veggies.
Then add the yogurt/cottage cheese or calcium( we use 4 caplets which we grind in a coffee bean grinder), and stir everything up all together. Good to freeze. I hope your dog likes it! 🐶
