A LITTLE CHEAT SHEET ON TEXTING A NEW FARRIER:

Don't: "Hey can you come shoe my horse?"

Do: "Hello, my name is (your name here). I'm looking for a new farrier. My horse(s) is/are a (breed), we do (whatever job/discipline you do). My horse(s) needs a (trim/half set/full set). My horse also has/needs (insert pathology/defect/special shoeing needs). We are located in (town/city your barn is located in, not two towns they are between that are 50 miles apart) and my horse is due in (time frame/date). Can you get us on your schedule?"

I am a farrier not a dentist. Please don't make me pull teeth to get you and your horse on my schedule. The more information you can give, the faster we can determine if your horse is a case I can handle or if I know someone I can refer you to. I probably can shoe your horse, I probably have a route somewhat close to your area and can probably get to you within about a week, but i need to know where I'm going and what I'm walking into in order to serve you effectively.

St. Croix forge Concorde with a plexus 3°wedge frog support pad, nailed on with capewell nails. Hoping to grow a healthier foot with more heel. Anyone who knows me knows I try to avoid wedging a horse unless necessary. This horse was so broken back there was no other way to accomplish a somewhat normal HPA without giving a little help. Hopefully I'll be working with a better foot in 4-6 weeks.

Update to the white line case posted yesterday. Filled in with Grand Circuit Products, LLC pro fast patch and sculpted to look somewhat normal. Pretty is as pretty does and we're definitely looking for functional here.

White line resectioning on a racehorse. I cut the wall away to healthy appearing margins to allow oxygen to kill the infection and allow the hoof to dry while the trainer treats the foot. The plan is to finish the foot soon and fill in with Grand Circuit Products, LLC pro fast patch acrylic.

A half set of Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoe Factory SX8s with an equipak CS pour in pads for a TB with thin soles. Just about the prettiest set of pour ins I've done in a while.
