All Her Puppies Found Homes—Now It's Missy's Turn 🐾
Missy arrived at the shelter last November with an important job: raising her puppies. She did that beautifully, and now every one of her babies has found a home. It's finally Missy's turn. This sweet 1½-year-old Shar-Pei mix is now spayed and around 58 lbs. Calm, affectionate, and easygoing, Missy enjoys exploring the world at her own pace and making new dog friends. On a recent Doggy Day Out, she charmed everyone she met—from a shop owner handing out treats to a resident dog who quickly became her friend. Missy has a playful side and enjoys a few zoomies around the yard, but she's happiest relaxing nearby with a chew toy and simply enjoying the moment. She's the kind of dog who makes life feel a little slower, a little sweeter, and a lot more peaceful.

After spending her first chapter caring for everyone else, Missy is ready for a family who will make her the center of their world. This gentle mama has waited long enough for her happy ending. 💛 Meet her at the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Westside Shelter, 11800 Sunset Gardens Rd SW. ID # A1933562.

ADOPTION SUCCESS STORY! 🎉
Sometimes the perfect match is right around the corner! Two-year-old Bonzai has officially found his forever family. ❤️ His foster was out walking him this weekend when they happened to meet some neighbors searching for a companion for their older dog. A meet-and-greet was arranged, tails wagged, everyone approved, and today Bonzai headed home!

Pictured here is Bonzai in one of his favorite roles—pretending to be a sheep while wrapped up in and proudly dragging around his beloved blanket. 🐑😂

Stories like Bonzai's are a wonderful reminder of why fostering is so important. Foster homes don't just provide a safe place for animals to stay while they wait for adoption—they help pets become visible in the community, introduce them to potential adopters, and allow us to learn more about their personalities, habits, and needs. In Bonzai's case, a simple neighborhood walk led directly to his forever family. Happy tails, sweet boy! We're so excited for your next chapter. ❤️

Meet LINGUINI - Now That's Amore! 🍝❤️
Hi, I'm Linguini. Yes, like the pasta. I'm almost 2 years old, I weigh ~53 pounds, I have adorable mini ears, and my breed is best described as a conversation starter. Some say Shar Pei, some say Boxer — I say Limited Edition! Now, let's talk about my eyes. I have been told they are mesmerizing, and I deploy them specifically when you have treats in your pocket. I will find the treats. Resistance is futile. The good news? I'm a gentleman about it. I sit nicely, take treats gently, and pick up new things fast. Basically, I’m a very handsome genius with a lot of energy who needs a like-minded fur-sibling or adventure buddy. My shelter friends love me, which tells you everything you need to know about my vibe. So, here's the deal: You bring the snacks, I'll bring the eyes, and together we can make something really special. I’ve been waiting since February for you to come meet me; you won't regret it! I’m at the ABQ Eastside Shelter, 8920 Lomas Blvd NE, and my ID # is A1901793.

Nova Is Ready to Go Home 🏡
Nova is a beautiful 5-year-old girl with soulful eyes, a stunning sable-and-white coat, and a heart that just wants a place to belong. At 56 pounds, Nova is the definition of a loyal companion. She walks beautifully on a loose leash, knows "sit," appears housetrained, and loves staying close to her people.

On a recent outing, she explored Tingley Beach, calmly greeted admirers, met new dog friends, and relaxed comfortably in a home setting—taking it all in stride. Nova is gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. While she does well out in the world, it's clear that shelter life isn't where she wants to be. In fact, she often hesitates to return to her kennel, as if she's hoping someone will finally say, "Come on, Nova. You're going home."💞 If you're looking for a devoted best friend who will stick close and love deeply, Nova is waiting for you! Meet her at the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Westside Shelter, 11800 Sunset Gardens Rd SW. ID # A1942139.

Roochie is a handsome 2 and a half year old Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as he is—though he’s pretty sure he’s actually the size of a lap dog. This sweet boy absolutely lives for cuddles and will happily lean into you (or climb right into your lap if you let him) just to be close. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who adores people, Roochie is your guy.
He’s not just loving—he’s also a well-mannered gentleman. Roochie walks beautifully on leash, making him a joy to take out for strolls or adventures.
Right now, Roochie is having a tough time in the shelter. The noise and unfamiliar environment have left him feeling scared and a little lost. But underneath that uncertainty is a devoted, affectionate dog who just wants a safe place to land and someone to love.
Roochie is ready to leave the stress behind and find his forever home—a place where he can relax, feel secure, and shower his person with all the cuddles he has to give. If you have a soft spot for a gentle soul who just needs a chance, Roochie is waiting for you.
You can meet Roochie at our Westside shelter.

Meet Lola: From Fearful to Fabulous ✨
When Lola first arrived at the shelter in February, she was so scared she had to be carried. Today, this 1½-year-old Cattle Dog mix is a playful, affectionate girl who has blossomed with patience and kindness. At just 30 pounds, Lola is smart, energetic, and eager to learn. She already knows "sit," loves training sessions, and is even learning agility skills (which she loves doing)! Once she gets to know you, she's all about kisses, cuddles, and tummy tickles.

On a recent sleepover, Lola showed what a wonderful companion she can be. She enjoyed long walks, played with other dogs, relaxed quietly while her host worked, slept peacefully through the night, and had excellent house manners. She’s patiently looking for an active home that will embrace her working-dog smarts and continue helping her grow. In return, she'll give endless love, loyalty, and plenty of laughs. Lola is spayed and ready to go home with you! Meet her at the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Eastside Shelter, 8920 Lomas Blvd NE. ID .

How Is Lillith Still Waiting? ✨
At just 1½ years old, Lilith is the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, and well-mannered. This 50-pound mixed-breed girl loves people, enjoys making dog friends, and brings a joyful energy wherever she goes. After SEVEN long months in the shelter, she's more than ready to trade kennel life for a family of her own.

On a recent Doggy Day Out, Lilith showed off just how adaptable she is. She walked beautifully on leash through the Bosque, relaxed at a coffee shop, made friends with other dogs, and settled calmly in a home. She takes treats gently, knows "sit," rides well in the car, and is always ready for snuggles and affection. Lilith still has plenty of youthful enthusiasm and loves chasing toys, but she's equally happy leaning in for pets and spending time with her people.

If you're looking for a loving, fun, and loyal companion, Lilith is ready to make every day a little brighter. She deserves her chance to shine. 💛 Lillith is waiting for you at the Albuquerque Animal Welfare WESTSIDE Shelter, 11800 Sunset Gardens Rd SW. ID # A1928460

Tank is a 6-year-old Rottweiler mix with the gentlest soul and the sweetest manners. At 75 pounds, he may look big and strong, but this boy is all about quiet companionship, leisurely walks, and soaking up affection from his favorite humans.
Tank is the TOTAL PACKAGE: he’s housetrained, crate trained, has obedience training, and walks beautifully on leash! He loves exploring the world one sniff at a time — whether that’s wading in the Rio Grande or politely greeting admirers at a coffee shop.
