Did you know….Veterinarians and veterinary staff, those involved in the field of animal care seem to have above average su***de rates when compared to the general population.

Since many veterinarians and veterinary staff have easy access to various pharmaceutical medications and a knowledge of pharmacology, using them for the purposes of su***de isn’t a far-fetched idea especially when a veterinarian or veterinary staff become depressed.

The combination of working with sick, suffering animals may lead to feelings of
depression and emotional stress. Many veterinarians and veterinary staff may also believe that they take optimal care of themselves and don’t need to seek treatment should they suffer from a mental illness.

Su***de rates for veterinarians and veterinary staff have become a profession with higher su***de rates.

Now you know. Be Nice.

Since the announcement about our clinic’s situation, along with the closure of Sylvan Lake Animal Clinic, surrounding veterinary clinics have taken on an abundance of new clients and patients.

They are stressed.

They are overwhelmed.

They are doing their best to keep up with an increased demand for care.

But they are still people.

People who have graciously opened their doors and taken on clients and patients
during an incredibly difficult time.

They do not deserve to be treated poorly, spoken to disrespectfully, or blamed for circumstances beyond their control.
Please be patient.

Please be kind.

Remember that the people caring for your animals are doing the best they can with the resources they have.

They’ve been there for our community when we needed them.
Let’s extend that same grace to them.

Just a reminder. BE NICE TO US!!

We understand this is a stressful time. Leaving voicemails with threats and cussing does not make this situation any better.

While you need to find a new vet we need to find jobs to support our pets and our families!!!!

Be nice.

We have over FIVE THOUSAND clients.
Today alone we had over 78 email requests for medical records AND over 35 voicemails. That was just today.

Yesterday 57 email request and 35 voicemails. Keep in mind most clients have multiple pets. We are sending records as fast as possible.

To our valued clients and community,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Albion Veterinary Clinic will be officially closing its doors and ceasing services on August 31st, 2026.

When Dr. Erika Pailer went on medical leave in September 2023, and following her heartbreaking passing in March 2025, we fought hard to keep her vision alive. Our goal was always to keep the clinic successful in her honor and maintain the welcoming, small-town feel that our community relies on.

We have been incredibly blessed to have Dr. Van Horn with us on Wednesdays and Fridays. However, despite our best efforts over the past several months, we have been unable to secure veterinarian coverage for the rest of the week.
From a logical and financial standpoint, we simply cannot continue operating only two days a week. It seems most small-town clinics are being swallowed up by big corporations, but for us, quality over quantity is more important than a dollar sign. It would not be fair to our clients, our patients, or our employees to continue under these strains.

This was an incredibly difficult decision, and we know it is a lot for our community to process. As we navigate this transition, we kindly ask that you treat our hardworking staff with patience, respect, and decency.

Email is the most efficient method of contact. You may also call and leave a voicemail.
After August 31st, 2026, our email and voicemail will still be monitored daily, and callbacks and emails will be answered.

Thank you for trusting us with your beloved pets over the years, and for supporting us through these challenging times. We will miss you and your furry family members dearly.
