Migration Alert: Over 443 million birds are forecast to fly across the East Coast and eastern Midwest tonight. To help birds make their journey safely, turn off all off all nonessential lights from 11 PM to 6 AM to keep them from becoming disoriented. Make windows safer with bird-friendly treatments to prevent collisions. More than a billion birds die in glass collisions every year. The Master Gardeners had a very cool field trip out to Koinonia Farm today. They have a beautiful property, lovely hospitality, and an 80 year old history. Highly recommend a visit, or ordering some of their locally made goodies.

🚨 Hurricane Isaias is expected to make landfall along the Gulf coast Friday night as the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season.

Extension experts advise gathering essential supplies before the end of the day. Start by collecting the basic supplies recommended for all households:

𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿
▪️ Minimum three-day supply of nonperishable, easy-to-prepare foods
▪️ Minimum three-day supply of one gallon of water per person per day

Announcing 📣 Georgia Master Naturalist Program
In collaboration with Chehaw Park & Zoo the Georgia Master Naturalist Program is being offered for the first time in the southwest Georgia. Topics are related to natural resources and environmental education (such as birding, ecology, water resources, rivers, forestry, native habitats, soil conservation, wildlife, etc.)

The Georgia Master Naturalist Program is a series 48-hour of adult citizen science educational program. Developed by the UGA Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, the GA Master Naturalist program utilizes hands-on activities and field trips and allows participants to get outdoors. It is a flexible learning experience based on local needs and resources.

Program Dates: Wednesdays, October 14 - December 9, 2026; 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Registration Deadline: 5:00 pm October 9, 2026
