While we are discussing misinformation… a client brought in two Seresto Collars for donation which we discovered to be counterfeit. This is a good example of the risk associated with ordering products from non-veterinary sources. Can you tell which is the counterfeit collar?

It has come to our attention that there is a video circulating online claiming that cutting a dog’s nails with clippers causes damage, using fear-based tactics to promote the sale of a nail clipping tool.

It’s important to understand that this video is an advertisement, not a scientific discovery, and it provides no valid evidence or sources to support its claims.

It is true that poor-quality, blunt, or guillotine-style clippers can cause crushing of the nail and discomfort, so using these is not recommended. However, sharp, scissor-style clippers, when used correctly and maintained properly, are perfectly safe and widely used by qualified groomers and veterinary professionals.
Both these traditional nail clippers and Dremels can be safe, comfortable and effective for clipping dogs' nails when used correctly.

Zoey is an eight year young, spayed female mixed breed who was surrendered to us because the owners could not keep up with her severe allergies. She is sweet and friendly to humans of all ages and to most other dogs, but would not get along well with cats. We are looking for either a foster or preferably a forever home for her! Please feel free to call or email us with questions, or to set up a meet and greet.

One of the most common modes of Rabies exposure in our area is via bats that get in the house (and the law still requires indoor cats to be vaccinated for Rabies, which protects both them and us!)

Outbreaks of rabies seem to be rising across the U.S., CDC surveillance shows.
