Your pet’s summer plans:
✅ Sniff everything
✅ Demand extra walks
✅ Find the only muddy puddle within a 5-mile radius
✅ Shed on every black article of clothing you own

While your furry family member is busy living their best summer life, here are a few ways to help keep them safe in the heat:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌡️ Plan walks for the cooler morning or evening hours
🐾 Test the pavement with your hand before heading out—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws
🏖️ Provide plenty of shade during outdoor adventures
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle, even for “just a minute”
🦟 Stay current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention

Summer is for sunshine, adventures, and making memories—but a little extra caution goes a long way when temperatures start to rise.

A friendly reminder from your Alameda Pet Hospital team:

If your pet may need medication refills, anxiety medications, or sedatives for fireworks, please don’t wait until the last minute to request them.

The days leading up to the holiday are some of our busiest of the year, and refill requests may require doctor approval before they can be dispensed.

To help ensure your furry family member is comfortable and prepared for the holiday, we recommend requesting refills at least 5-7 days in advance.

The bond we share with our pets is one of life’s greatest gifts. They bring us comfort, laughter, companionship, and unconditional love. Though their time with us is never long enough, the memories they leave behind stay with us forever.

On World Pet Memorial Day, we honor the beloved companions who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the families who continue to carry them in their hearts.

From fireworks and hot weather to sneaky toxic foods at the cookout, there are a few holiday hazards that can turn an exciting weekend into an emergency visit real quick. 😅

A few reminders from your favorite neighborhood vet team:
✨ Keep pets cool & hydrated
✨ Skip the table scraps
✨ Make sure microchip info is up to date
✨ Keep anxious pets safe indoors during fireworks
