Alachua Animal Hospital is collecting gently used old towels and small blankets to help keep our patients clean, cozy, warm, and comfortable during their stay with us! ❤️🐶🐱

A Happy Ending for Maggie ❤️🐾

Maggie, a beloved quail sporting dogs, came to see us because her handler knew she just wasn’t herself. After further testing, we discovered a large splenic mass that required emergency surgery.

Thankfully, Maggie did great through her procedure, and the mass was successfully removed. Most importantly, she’s now back to her old self—happy, active, and doing what Maggie does best! 🦆🥰

We absolutely love seeing our patients get a second chance at feeling like themselves. 🐶

🐶 Puppy teeth: cute now, problem later! 🦷

This adorable puppy came in with quite a collection of retained deciduous (baby) teeth—and while those tiny teeth may look harmless, leaving them in place can cause some big dental problems down the road!

Normally, puppy teeth should fall out as the permanent adult teeth erupt. When a baby tooth remains, it can crowd the adult tooth, creating areas where food and bacteria become trapped. This can lead to gingivitis, periodontal disease, discomfort, and abnormal positioning of the adult teeth.

🐾 That’s why we check your puppy’s mouth carefully during their spay or neuter! If retained baby teeth are still present, we can safely remove them while your pet is already under anesthesia.

Early dental care can help set your puppy up for a healthy, comfortable smile for life. ❤️

Thankfully, all of her tests came back clear, and even better—Ana was feeling much more like her sassy self the very next day! 🥰
