🐾🌿 CANNABIS PRODUCTS & PETS: WHAT EVERY PET OWNER SHOULD KNOW 🌿🐾

Did you know that ma*****na can be toxic to dogs and cats? Even a small amount can cause
symptoms because pets are more sensitive to THC than people.

🚨Pets can be exposed by ingesting:
• Ma*****na flower or plant material
• Edibles such as gummies, brownies, or cookies
• THC oils or concentrates
• Cannabis-infused foods or drinks
• Ashes or discarded ma*****na products
🐶 Signs of ma*****na/THC ingestion may include:
• Sleepiness or lethargy
• Wobbling, stumbling, or difficulty walking
• Dilated pupils
• Urinary incontinence
• Drooling or vomiting
• Increased or decreased heart rate
• Tremors
• Sensitivity to sound or touch
• Disorientation or unusual behavior
• In severe cases, seizures, coma, or breathing problems

❗ If you think your pet has ingested ma*****na, don’t wait for symptoms to become severe.
Contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

❤Most importantly, be honest about what your pet may have consumed. Veterinarians need
accurate information to provide the safest treatment.

🐾Our objective is always to provide care for your pet without judgement or repercussions.🐾

World Rabies Day is an annual event on September 28th to promote action and awareness for Rabies prevention.
🛡️How to protect your family and your pets?
By having all your pets vaccinated against this deadly disease. Rabies is 100% preventable!
🤔 What Animals can get Rabies?
All mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies. In the United States, most cases of rabies occur in wild animals; mainly 🦨skunks, 🦝raccoons, 🦇bats, 🐕coyotes, and 🦊foxes. In recent years, cats have become the most common domestic animal infected with rabies because many cat owners do not vaccinate their cats, and cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife, either outdoors or when bats get into the house.
🦠What are the signs of Rabies?
Fearfulness
Aggression
Excessive drooling,
Difficulty swallowing
Staggering
Paralysis
Seizures
Aggressive behavior is common, but rabid animals may also be uncharacteristically affectionate. Horses and livestock with rabies also may exhibit depression, self mutilation, or increased sensitivity to light. Rabid wild animals may lose their natural fear of humans, and display unusual behavior; for example, an animal that is usually only seen at night may be seen wandering in the daytime
🧠 For more information visit a trusted resource - American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) website.
📱Not sure if your pet is due? Check their profile in your mobile app for their Rabies vaccine due date. If you don't see your pet's vaccine reminders in the app, or if your pet is overdue for Rabies, please contact us.

On average, pets age seven times faster than people. Typically, dogs and cats are considered senior when they’re about seven years old. Of course, size and breed have a lot of bearing on the aging process, and cats generally live longer than dogs.

Just like us, pets tend to require more TLC as they age, and they are more prone to developing health problems like arthritis, cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, thyroid conditions, and diabetes. While aging itself is not a disease, according to Vetstreet, there are a few symptoms you should keep an eye on when it comes to caring for your older pet:

Changes in weight (especially weight loss)
Decreased appetite or lack of appetite
Increased water consumption
Changes in urine or stool patterns
New lumps, bumps or swellings — or changes in existing ones
Persistent cough
Difficulty breathing or breathing heavily or rapidly at rest
Sudden collapse or weakness
Difficulty climbing stairs or jumping
Foul mouth odor or drooling
Seizure or convulsions
Disorientation

If you are noticing any of these signs in your senior pet, it might be time for a check up. Request an appointment through our app 📲or give us a call so we can perform a nose-to-tail exam and create a plan for their senior care.
