September is Happy Healthy Cat Month, so we are going to spend some of it talking about the residents who tend to get fewer photos than the dogs do.

Here is something we notice every single year. People come in asking for a kitten and leave with a four-year-old cat, because the four-year-old cat walked over, sat down, and made the decision for them.

Adult cats are already who they are going to be. You know the personality before you commit to it. You know whether she wants a lap or a windowsill. There is no guesswork and no adolescence to survive.

We have many cats who are looking for their forever home, and every one of them is worth ten minutes of your time!

There are so many ways to get involved with the Humane Society of Summit County!
🧡Donate: Every contribution, big or small, helps us provide care and resources for animals in need.
🧡Volunteer: Give your time and make a difference for the animals waiting for their next chapter.

The 26th annual Pawsibility Ball was a success! More than 300 attendees showed up, sponsored, and bid on auction items, making a direct impact on thousands of homeless, abused, sick and injured animals who enter HSSC's care every year.

The highlight of the evening was our live auction. Our two hottest items, a w**e dinner and a Goodyear Blimp ride, raised a combined $26,000! Thanks to everyone who generously gave to HSSC, whether in person or online, the event raised more than $155,000! These funds go back to our community through vital programs such as the MABEL, Pet Food Pantry Program, Humane rescue missions, rehabilitation, fostering, and so much more.

To our friends, sponsors, and supporters, thank you for making the 2026 Pawsibility Ball an evening to remember!

Time is running out to take advantage of our Clear the Shelters promotion, and Beardsley is still hoping to find his family! 💙

This 5-year-old Shepherd mix is outgoing, playful, and full of energy. Beardsley loves making new friends and would make a great companion for someone ready for plenty of fun and adventures.

Clear the Shelters ends this Monday, so there are only a few days left to adopt a dog over one year old for $50.

Freddy has been waiting patiently for the right person to come along. Could these final days of Clear the Shelters finally be his time? 😿

This 2-year-old sweetheart is looking for a peaceful home where he can settle in at his own pace. Freddy has lived with other cats before and may enjoy having a calm feline friend by his side.

This Monday is the final day of Clear the Shelters, which means there are only a few days left to adopt a cat over one year old for $25.
