Board and train, boarding, and daycare round up šŸ•šŸ

-Rue: the pitty mix puppy, here for daycare

-Pippet: the Dalmatian mix puppy, whoā€™s back for her off leash program after completing our puppy on leash program previously. With special requests to paddle board.

-Bane: the German Shepherd, heā€™s here for our off leash program.

-Buddy: the German Shepherd, a retired police K9 from down near Dayton OH. Here for boarding

-Kal: the miniature Australian Shepherd, heā€™s here for boarding and completed our off leash program

-Stormy Lou: the Bernese Mountain Dog mixed with Golden Retriever, sheā€™s here for daycare M-F for 4-6 weeks.

-Ozzy: the standard Poodle, heā€™s here for boarding.

Few days late, as weā€™ve been busy taking care of everyone around the holiday, 4th of July!

Everyone was kept safe during the near by fireworks and did extremely well.
Glad to say no one expressed any anxiety šŸ™ŒšŸ¼.

Bane will be joining us for a 3 week board and train, then he will be available for adoption to the right home.

Backstory on Bane:
We got a call July 6th that Bane would be unethically put to sleep by his owner this Saturday July 11th if he didnā€™t find someone to take him (very vulgar, inhumane ways were described). A good, kind hearted person reached out with the information asking if we can evaluate Bane to see if he was able to be trained, temporarily fostered, and then adopted.

After training, Bane will have a temporary foster with the gentleman who reached out, however, he will still be looking for his home as his landlord wonā€™t allow 2 dogs long term.

Bane is a young GSD (around 2 years old) who came from NEO ASPCA. During the evaluation, we came to the conclusion that his home set up is not meant for him and he has been pushed to the side. He needs proper physical and mental stimulation.

He was with an older GSD who would start fights over a ball, Bane has been attacked on multiple occasions with the older dog and the neighbors dog, he would be left outside behind a gate while the owner is at work, leading to Bane having jumped the gate while unattended. Per his breed, he can be mouthy and do his mouth chomps as a German shepherd would. Baneā€™s owner is used to laid back GSDs who donā€™t receive much attention and 1 walk a week. Baneā€™s owner was not interested in changing his home structure or routine to keep Bane.

Overall, weā€™re grateful to be saving a life and giving Bane the 2nd chance he deserves, he has the potential to be a GREAT dog and hiking buddy.

He will be working on:
Place with impulse control
Heel
Off leash obedience
Recall
Nail trim desensitization
Neutrality to people and other dogs (as heā€™s curious but did not display reactivity, we will dig deeper into this)
Finding out if he does well with small and large dogs
Down-stays
Distractions in public
