🐾 Glaucoma treatment is about more than what we see on the outside. 💙

One question we often hear about ciliary body ablation (CBA) is, “Will my dog’s eye look different afterward?”

CBA is a treatment used to help manage glaucoma by reducing the eye’s production of aqueous humor, the fluid responsible for maintaining pressure inside the eye. By lowering intraocular pressure, our goal is to help protect the eye and improve comfort.

Following treatment, some eyes may appear slightly smaller or develop a bluish or cloudy appearance. These changes can occur after CBA, although the degree varies from patient to patient.

💙 The most important thing is your pet’s comfort and quality of life. Every eye is different, and changes in appearance should be monitored by your veterinary team to ensure the eye remains comfortable and healthy.

Our dogs are still the same lovable companions, with the same sweet personalities, regardless of how their eyes may look. 🐶

Have questions about glaucoma or treatment options for your pet? We’re here to help!

Seasonal education can make a real difference, whether it happens in the exam room, through social media, or with client handouts.
