Along with a team of researchers, Dr. Mark Mamula — an immunologist and professor at the Yale School of Medicine — has developed a vaccine that's changing the outlook for dogs with cancer.

Once the treatment is licensed, it will "very likely be the least expensive cancer therapy a dog can get," Mamula said.
