⚜ Xonei d'Noble ⚜

(Naperon DC x Oculta OC)

THIS FILLY! Xonei (AKA Coco Puff) is absolutely the whole package. Her calm and thinking character paired with her balance, power and athletic ability, make her the perfect choice for your next Working Equitation prospect. Not only is she outgoing and curious, but brave to boot. I love this filly and keep going back and forth on keeping her for our mare herd, as her combined genetics should really shine in her offspring. As usual though, I always default to my desire for the foals I raise to have their very own special person.

Send me a message if you are that very special person...😊

💫 Urquiza d'Noble 💫

Another CDN horse getting a great start at Sunflower Equestrian Center. I am beyond pleased on how well our young horses are doing as they begin training under such knowledgeable and caring horseman. We are so appreciative of the understanding of the Lusitano horse and how they are being brought along with such quiet confidence. Sunflower Equestrian Center is developing lifelong partners with solid foundations.

Izzy is by Naperon DC and out of Lola DC...and DANG SHE'S GORGEOUS!

🇬🇧Lusitano once again ranks among the world’s top five breeds in Dressage

For the second time, the Lusitano has reached 5th place in the WBFSH world ranking of breeds for Dressage, a discipline traditionally dominated by Europe’s most prestigious studbooks.

Gladiador do Lis, Marques dos Cedros, Lírio, Irão, Jairo de Além and Come Back de Massa were key to this result.

It reflects generations of work by breeders, owners, riders, trainers and foreign Associations. Our Studbook remains closed, with no outside bloodlines.

🎖 APSL Cavalo Lusitano Inspection Scoring 🎖

There are eight areas that are the main focus during Inspection for approval in the Studbook. Four areas are worth 1.5 times the score, as these are more important areas when it comes to functionality Above all, remember that the Lusitano is a Saddle horse; which means conformation needs to be a solid foundation in order to carry a rider and perform.

As you can see, most are general good conformation points, as it should be with any horse. Some traits, however, are focused more toward producing a unique phenotype that makes up a functional Lusitano.

There are many reasons for scores, especially average or lower scores. When you are talking about phenotype and movement/performance, realize that all these traits are polygenic - meaning that it takes a cluster of genetic material to give you what you have. These are not single traits that you can just breed in or out of a bloodline. Even color is polygenic.

APSL also does a Linear score at the time of inspection, which encompasses more than 60 detailed traits, used to create a "genetic evaluation". This will be information added to past horses in the bloodline to evaluate what your horse will most likely bring to the breeding shed (or not).

Both the general scores and genetic evaluation are available on the APSL Cavalo Lusitano website, under public access to the studbook.
