We're a small, charitable, 501c3 non-profit focused on rescuing and rehabilitating farm animals.

Here at Lotsa Heart Animal Sanctuary, compassionate care for ALL animals is the cornerstone of our mission. Our rescue animals come in all shapes and sizes, from companion animals such as cats, to farm animals, including pot belly pigs, donkeys, and mules. Our goal is to ensure that these animals get the best care available-for a lifetime. We want to provide them with a loving, forever home where

they can be happy, healthy, and safe. We aim to treat each animal that comes into our care with the patience, love, and respect that they deserve, so they can enjoy a lifetime of good health and know how much they are valued and loved. We aim to offer state-of-the-art care, promote regular preventative care for our animals, and an enjoyable, positive atmosphere for both pets and people.

Today we're celebrating one of the sweetest girls at Lotsa Heart Animal Sanctuary! Gidget has brought so much love, laughter, and joy into our lives, and we're so grateful to celebrate another year with this special girl.

To help beat the summer heat, Gidget received a brand-new Care Bears Slip 'N Slide for her birthday! 🌈💦 We can't wait to set it up and watch her and her friends have some fun on these hot summer days.

Happy Birthday, sweet Gidget! We hope your day is filled with all your favorite treats, lots of belly rubs, plenty of naps, and, of course, all the love you deserve. Thank you for being such an amazing ambassador for potbellied pigs and for reminding us every day just how incredible these animals truly are.

Our sweet Splish recently celebrated his 14th birthday! 🎉💙

A day that was filled with both joy and heartbreak as this was the first birthday these brothers have spent apart.

For 13 wonderful years, Splish and Splash did everything together. They grew up side by side, shared countless naps, adventures, and quiet moments, and were never far from one another. Losing Splash just a few months ago left a hole in all of our hearts—and especially in Splish's.

Today is bittersweet. While we're celebrating another year with our sweet Splish, we're also missing the brother who should have been right beside him, stealing treats, demanding attention, and making sure he got just as many birthday wishes.

We'll be spoiling Splish a little extra today—with his favorite treats, lots of cuddles, and all the love we can give. And we'll be thinking of Splash, celebrating his birthday in Heaven, forever loved and forever missed.

🎉 Welcome to the Sanctuary, June! 🐷❤️

Please join us in giving a warm Lotsa Heart welcome to our newest rescue resident, June!

This sweet potbelly pig has already begun settling into sanctuary life, where she will never have to worry about where her next meal is coming from or whether she is safe and loved. June is getting acquainted with her new surroundings, enjoying plenty of poolside snacks, and soft places to rest.

Like all of our residents, June's story matters. While we are still getting to know her personality, one thing is already clear—she deserves the chance to live a happy, peaceful life surrounded by kindness and compassion.

We are so excited to share her journey with all of you and can't wait for you to watch her blossom.

Happy Belated Birthday to our bonded besties, Shrek & Peanut! Our mini donkey and mini mule duo may be small in size, but they are overflowing with personality, mischief, and love.

These boys are rarely far from one another and have shared an unbreakable bond for years. Whether they’re supervising sanctuary chores, demanding snacks, or just being adorable together, life is always better (and more entertaining!) with Shrek and Peanut around.

Please help us wish these sweet boys a very happy birthday and many more years of friendship, adventures, and treats! 🫏💙🎂

We apologize for the silence, but we’ve been dreading making this post because somehow putting these words down makes it feel more real.

Last week, we had to say goodbye to our Sugarcat, Splash. 💔

He had been doing great managing his diabetes for over two years, but last week a perfect storm hit his body, and all the love and care in the world was not able to heal him.

If Splash could have written his own goodbye, I think it might have sounded something like this…

Hi everybody,

It’s me, Splashy. Commander of the house, teacher of tricks, professional cabinet opener, Christmas tree climber, feather hunter, and expert toy transporter.

I know Mom has been having a hard time making this post, so I figured I’d help.

First things first — please make sure my brother Splish is okay. He’s never been without me before, and somebody has to keep him company while he figures out how to be mischievous without me teaching him all my tricks.

I had a really good life. I got to travel the country with my family, from California to New Jersey to South Carolina. I had brothers and sisters, pigs, donkeys, mules, and lots of furry friends to supervise. I played fetch, stole twist ties, brought toys to the bed in the middle of the night, climbed where I wasn’t supposed to, and reminded everyone that if something wiggles… it’s definitely a toy.

I got belly rubs, naps between your legs, lots of cuddles, and plenty of chances to tell everyone very loudly when it was time for food (even if I didn’t actually want the can that got opened).

And don’t worry — I’m still around.

Maybe you’ll hear me in a little bird coo. Maybe in a toy mysteriously appearing where it shouldn’t be. Maybe when Splish looks around like he swears I just ran past him.

I know Mom and Dad’s hearts are broken right now. Mine would be too if I had to leave them.

But please don’t be too sad for too long. I had so much love. More love than a little rescue kitten could ever dream of.

Thank you for loving me. Thank you for loving my family. And please remember: if there’s wrapping paper on Christmas morning, somebody still needs to supervise cleanup.
