For years, they’ve been someone’s best friend. Now they’re hoping for a second chance to be part of a loving family.

This June, adoption fees are waived for all dogs over 6 years old at the Agoura Animal Care Center — including spay/neuter and microchip fees. (License fees not included if applicable.)

Older dogs may have a little gray on their faces, but they still have so much love, loyalty, and life left to give.

Come meet our seniors and help them spend their golden years in a loving home✨

This is our Ari who Agoura volunteer Sheeva discovered at North Central LA Animal Services. He was adopted from the Best Friends event this past November & relinquished by no fault of his own when his family moved.💔We’re sorry Ari, love from all of us at Agoura & we’re rooting for you to find your true forever home!🙏🏻

Meet Ari. Quietly waiting in the back of his kennel since intake in early January. He's 5 years old and 50 Ibs.
Surrendered through no fault of his own when his family had to relocate.
Notes left say he's crate trained, relaxed and gentle around children, and described by his previous family as friendly, affectionate, and playful
- which we agree with.

He's been out in shelter playgroups where he's shown he does best with polite, lower energy dogs. Rowdy play around him can be a bit overwhelming.

We think this fella is pretty great and we'd love to help him exit the shelter, but we need a foster. Fill out a foster form through the link in the bio to see if he might be a good match for your household.

🐱Purrty A5758669 has made herself quite at home! Her new Mom says “She is such a sweetie! I already love her so very much!”

🐱Ash scored the perfect Mama who fell in love with his photo on the web. And he seemed to know this young woman named Kitty was the one for him easily going into the carrier for his trip home!

🐱Clementine A5768723 has a new family who were so excited to take her home!

🐱🐱Ginny & Iris our super bonded kitty pair were thankfully adopted together. Their new Mama is a repeat adopter whose last Agoura kitty lived to age 24!

🐱Miles A5732697 was discovered by his new pawparents when they saw one of Agoura’s newspaper posts featuring our handsome orange kitty. Miles will join a senior cat sib. Kittygram:
“He is doing really well. He recently discovered mirrors and is having lots of fun with that!”

If you’re already working in the Veterinary arena OR you’ve ever been curious about veterinary medicine, animal care, or working in the medical field with animals, this is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience while making a real difference in the lives of shelter pets.

Whether you’re considering vet school, exploring career options, or just wanting to learn more before committing to a job or educational path, volunteering with our medical team can give you valuable insight and experience.

Big news! The Agoura Animal
Care Center is participating in the third annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day on Saturday, June 6. Shelters across California will offer fee-waived adoptions — and we’re so excited to be part of it. The event will take place all day Saturday, during our normal business hours, so please stop by anytime from 11:00am to 5:00pm!

You can visit animalcare.lacounty.gov to view our adaptable animals leading up to the event.

HUGE thank you to the ASPCA in partnership with CalAnimals, for covering adoption fees for all animals at our care center as well as hundreds of others across California. And a big shoutout to California Animal Welfare Association and The San Francisco SPCA for their incredible support in making this event happen!

April adoptions & rescues part 2!🥳

🐶Dorothy A5689303 got her teeth stuck on her kennel fencing, panicking she tried to pull away only to break her jaw.💔
Once recovered from surgery her veterinarian was concerned about her returning to a kennel cage. Volunteer Robin B stepped up to take sweet Dorothy into foster care where she was safely cage free. During many months of continued recovery Robin along with the rest of the family fell in love…foster fail!!!🥳

🐶Santi nka Archie was shut down, quite simply the kennel environment was super frightening to him. Every sound & sight left him skittish. His refuge was our real room, a quiet place to decompress. Despite everything we did to help him to feel safe he remained a sad, scared boy. Volunteer Tim stepped up to foster Archie. As the weeks went by Archie began to show a bit more bravery, still not entirely sure about the world around him, tho there was one thing Archie knew for sure, Tim was his new Papa@and Tim agreed! Foster fail!!!🥳

April adoptions part 1! 🥳Grateful!!!

🐶Pippa our amazing 1 eye, 3 legged sweetheart of a pup met a mom and daughter who fell instantly in love with her!(TY to volunteer Kay who fostered Pippa while recovering from her amputation & the who funded all her medical care ❤️)

🐶Deacon our long timer & volunteer favorite instantly vibed with his new mom and dad, who finally felt ready to add another dog to the family after theirs passed 2 years ago.💔🌈Deacon rolled over for belly rubs, their 20yr old son who they FaceTimed loved him as well and Deacon left with his forever family to do some heart healing!❤️

🐶Quinn our very senior pup (14!) had a reach out inquiry to meet her after they saw her online. They have a look alike blind pup at home, Quinn will be an excellent add to the family!

🐶Elvis has a new Mom, human sis, & 2 cats he’ll be living with!

🐶Linda is her new Mama’s first puppy!

🐶Nora was sweet as can be during her intro with her new Dad, then with new Mom’s approval she gained a family!
