🎃🐾 Halloween is full of spooky fun—but some of the biggest pet hazards aren’t in the candy bowl!
As you decorate and prepare for trick-or-treaters, keep these safety tips in mind:
🕯️ Decorations: Curious pets may chew or swallow fake cobwebs, string, ribbons, small decorations, costume pieces, or other spooky décor. These can become foreign bodies and cause dangerous intestinal blockages. Keep electrical cords out of reach and open flames away from wagging tails and curious whiskers, too!
🔔 Keep things calm: Doorbells, knocking, costumes, excited kids, and unfamiliar voices can be overwhelming. Consider giving anxious pets a quiet, comfortable room away from the front door with their favorite bed, toys, or treats.
🚪 Watch for escape artists: With the door opening all evening, even pets who normally stay close can slip outside when frightened or excited. Keep pets secured away from the doorway and make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.
A little preparation can help make Halloween spooky for us and safe for them! 👻🧡🐶🐱

Amy is an important part of our surgery team, where her knowledge, hard work, and dedication help keep our patients safe and cared for every step of the way. But just as important—she keeps us laughing! 😂 Whether it’s a busy surgery day or one of those days where everything seems to happen at once, you can count on Amy to bring some humor into the mix.
Amy may be a little camera shy, so she graciously let her handsome boy Dave take the spotlight for her. 😉🐶❤️
Thank you, Amy, for everything you do for our patients, our doctors, and your KVC family. We appreciate you more than you know!
Happy Veterinary Technician Week, Amy! 💙🐾🩺
