"Check in" is one of many forms of recall commands Hagrid responds to when on a walk off leash. The main reason for "check in" is to ensure Hagrid knows where I am at all times and vise versa. Please follow/continue to follow my page for more recall command examples.

Mental stimulation day: I threw Hagrid's food in the grass in which he had to utilize his sniffer to find and eat his kibble. Did you know that 10 minutes of mental stimulation equates to 2hrs of physical exercise

Today I took Luke with me when I went out to eat with my friend. Luke did amazing. He sat, laid down, and stayed even when the waitress came to the table, when our food came and as we were eating. I'm so proud of him.

My motto for dog training is "every moment can be turned into a training moment" which is what I did today when playing fetch with Luke. Luke is working on his impulse control so when he dropped the toy, I had him sit and wait. This helped Luke to pause and learn to respond in a controlled way versus an impulsive way. Hagrid also enjoyed his time outside too.

We are back! Sorry guys, I have been sick the last several days which is why I did not post videos. Today I challenged Luke even more. The first video, I am holding the leash and the harness which makes Luke have to hold more of my weight when I walk. The second video, I put treats on the floor to work on ignoring things on the floor. The third video, I am at the check out and it's one of many positions Luke will be in when at any check out counter.

Luke continues practicing "take," and "down, stay, and stand." Hagrid assisted Luke by showing him how it looks in one smooth motion. I took Luke to the store and did more public access training. We worked on "close," "front, sit, and stand" when looking at an item and "stand" when it was time to move. He did a great job at the store.

Luke learned "bells" today, which he will use to tell his veteran that he has to go outside. We continue to work on "down" and "stand". Today was the first time Luke was able to do "down" without the hand signal or sniffing my hand for the treat. Way to go Luke.

Today I covered some of the basics such as "front" "post" "back" "down" and "stand" before working on the challenging commands such as the "take and give" and "close". After, I took Luke to dollar general in which we continued to practice "close" and ignoring everything around him. Luke did amazing and continues to make great progress.

Today Luke did some public access training and he did great. Kelly and I also took Luke to a small restaurant and he was able to settle and lie down. Lastly, we took Luke to meet his veteran for the first time. Thank you to his family for participating in the surprise.

Luke continues to practice "stand" and "brace". We tried something new today: having Luke stand from a "down" position and using "stand and brace" to get up and down from sitting on the couch. I'm so proud of his progress.

Today Luke focused on the following: "vest" is to help teach Luke to be still when putting his vest on and to let him know he is in work mode. Luke continues to practice "stand". He also learned "brace" which is the command to let Luke know that he needs to "stand" and be "still" for mobility support. The last video is of my dog Hagrid showing you how the "stand" and "brace" work together and what Luke will eventually do for his veteran
