Let's make their holiday dreams come true!
Dr Miller was involved several months ago in the rescue of 3 dogs from a very sad situation of neglect. When she arrived at the home where they were housed, it was obvious the people had needed help caring for themselves, let alone the animals. While at the home, she saw a number of cats, most too scared to be caught, especially since they had access to outdoors. The exception to this was two very skinny grey cats that approached her, purring loudly, pawing at her and meowing for food. She knew she couldn't leave them behind.
She found rescue for the dogs, but when it came to the cats, rescues she reached out to were full so she took them on herself for care. She has got them fully vetted, healthy and ready for adoption with the help of our staff.
Both cats are ~1-2 years old and very friendly. Unfotunately, both are FIV positive so they should be housed with other FIV positive cats or by themselves to prevent risk of spread to other cats. The virus is contagios to cats only and is spread by deep bite wounds, so although transmission to other is cats is rare, it can happen. Although FIV can shorten their life expectancy, they can still live happy, healthy lives for years.
Upon intake, both were malnouroshed, heavily parasitised and covered in fleas but they never lost their loving and curious demeanor. Our staff gave them lots of TLC while Dr Miller provided their veterinary care to get them healthy. Calvin was neutered, treated for parasites and an upper respiratory infection and needed to have most of his teeth removed due to bad dental disease. Calliope was spayed and treated for parasites as well. Both are doing well in boarding, but they can really use a home of their own, together. They deserve to be spoiled, happy pets rather then neighborhood strays. These young, happy, playful cats can really use a loving home that promises to care for them lifelong. Can you help us find their place?
Since they are bing adopted out by our office, they have no official adoption fee, but a donation to our Angel Fund would be appreciated so that Dr Miller can continue helping some of the injured strays in our area.
