Cat Foster/adopt app https://www.jotform.com/form/200997587139168 All dogs are in foster care, while cats are can be visited at our shelter at 197 Middle Rd. We also keep most kittens and some special needs cats in foster care. We focus our effort

s on pets that wouldn’t do well in traditional shelters. Our mission extends to the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) of feral cats, training of dogs with behavioral challenges, and education to avoid rehoming of owned animals. What makes CARE unique is that the volunteers take in older animals, sick animals, animals with behavioral issues that would not make it in a traditional shelter, etc. CARE caters to the population of animals that others find not worthy of life. CARE sees the diamonds in the rough, the tail wags beneath the sad eyes, and rehabs the animals back to being happy, healthy, confident family pets who bring so much joy to their families. Along with our sheltering and adoption programs CARE provide basic medical support to these same animals along with helping feral cats and low income folks who would not otherwise be able to keep their pets. In cases where people have found themselves temporarily homeless we have provided shelter for their pets until they have been reunited with their owners. Most of these pets would have ended up on the streets or euthanized. Imagine losing your furry family member as well as your home ? On behalf of the homeless pets we have saved and continue to save, please accept our heartfelt gratitude and thanks. We hope you will support our mission of not giving up on any animal no matter how hopeless their situation may be. We are their voice when no one else is there.

****Kittens****
We have several litters, but they are not quite ready for their debut. Stay tuned!

Introducing….
Athena, the all black female, is a quite the ninja. Just when you think she's going to be a shy gal, she springs into action chasing her siblings tails, attacking strings and shoe laces, and any rogue ladybug in the house. She's the quietest and smallest of the 4, but the most avid stalker and hunter and LOVES to play

Hera, the grey long-haired female, has gained the nickname Hera the Terror. Not because she's a tough kitten to love, but because of her siblings she is definitely the boss. If she decides it's playtime, forget napping, her siblings are pounced on and wrestled with. She's super talkative, affectionate, and incredibly brave. She has no fear of the 2 dogs and will often push the 90lb dog off the bed to steal the warm spot. Exceptional cuddler, and high energy lady

Apollo, the grey and white male, is your typical boy. Loves to play, finds himself in silly situations (did you know dog bowls double as a good place to nap?!) When he wants to nap, have your lap (or arms) ready! A man who loves his meals, he is also quite serious about his food. He loves to chase his tail, and enjoys naps in the sun

Hades, the all black male. A crowd favorite due to his gentle demeanor. He too has the typical kitten energy, but he is 100% Velcro kitten. He LOVES his people and furry peers. Whether it's an adult, teen, dog, or his sibling, he always wants to be friends.

Another plea for sweet Chief. He’s been waiting so patiently and will make someone SO happy.

Can everyone please share and share again?

Introducing the new and improved Chief!!

Chief came to us in the fall when his family could no longer care for him. He was scared and had some issues settling into a new home. He was taken into foster by our wonderful friend and trainer, Brittany. Brittany has worked with him for months and he is our shining star now!

Chief is a four year old Golden Retriever. Chief has many of the same traits as most goldens; he is a loving, Velcro type boy. He loves his people fiercely and once you have his trust, he is yours for life.

On the other hand, Chief is also much like a German Shepherd or similar working breed. He needs a job in order to succeed and that could be agility or nose work or anything that works his very sharp and beautiful brain. This is a non-negotiable when taking Chief into your home.

Chief has some resource guarding and confinement phobias but his trainer has fine tuned a lot of his fears and we are confident in the right home that these issues won’t interfere with every day life.

We adore Chief. It’s impossible not to. He wiggles his way into your heart and makes himself at home there. He is so sweet, energetic, funny, charismatic and wonderful in all the ways.

If you are considering Chief or have any questions, please email [email protected]!!

Where do all those amazing donations of supplies go?

Well, let me tell you a little about May. April showers didn't just bring flowers, they brought KITTENS! All those kittens born in March are now showing themselves! They come in pairs. They come in litters and they come as singles. Some are healthy and some need extra care.

There couldn't be kittens without Moms! We feel very strongly about getting the mom's too, where many will take kittens and leave Moms behind. 😡

Oh, and those very handsome Dad's, they need to be trapped as well. Once neutered they live a much more peaceful life without fighting over females and territory.

So we have been very busy! 20 cats were trapped and TNRed this past month! 11 kittens were taken off the streets.

5 surrenders were taken in. 2 of which are very traumatized by owners passing and needing extra care and 3 friendlies pretending to be ferals just to get a meal while lost on the streets.

We partnered with 4 other local shelters and NB AC to get ferals transported to their TNR appointments.

And THAT is where all your valuable donations have gone to! They are so appreciated! They say it takes a village! We are so grateful to have you in our village!

On a very sad note, we lost one of our beloved veterinarians, Dr Nick Dagenais, who lost his battle to ASL. He will be so dearly missed by so many. May he RIP and be greeted by the many of the animals you touched on your way over that Rainbow Bridge.
