! Many of you have met Thomas Gomes at the shop. He helped us for a few years care for our Turantulas. What you may not have known is that Thomas was also ACO (animal control officer) for multiple local towns. Thomas has decided to branch out on his own and it would mean the world to us if everyone could support him on this endeavor. His love for these animals is unmatched and we want to support him in any way we can. Drop him a like/ share/ follow. Anything helps. Thank you all. Below (in the comments)is Thomas and our baby girl ALF!

In the State of Massachusetts, a Problem Animal Control (PAC) Agent is licensed to handle conflicts between people and wildlife. We will be providing humane wildlife management services.

That’s a wrap, friends - we have officially closed our doors.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the years of support, encouragement, and the incredible memories you’ve shared with us especially over these past few weeks since announcing our closure. Your kindness has meant more than we can possibly put into words.

While our storefront chapter has come to an end, this isn’t goodbye. Our Facebook and Instagram pages will remain active, and we’re still happy to help with reptile care questions whenever we can. You’ll also still find us vending select shows with animals from our personal breeding projects (because reptiles will always be part of who we are.)

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Today, February 26th, is our final day open to the public. While we no longer have any items available for sale, we’d truly love to see you if you’d like to stop by and say goodbye. Please excuse any brief closures throughout the day as we continue moving items to our personal residence.

Due to the large amount of snow (we received over 30” here in Acushnet), we are closed today - Tuesday, February 24th.

We will see you for our final day Thursday, February 26th.

We are now completely out of all feeders, so Thursday will mostly be a day to stop by, say goodbye, and wish us well as we finish packing everything up and close this chapter. We truly hope you can come in one last time, it would mean a lot to us (and to Sol & Cosmo 🐾).

It’s the final week 💔

While we’re closed today, here are our hours for the rest of the week:

Monday 2/23: Closed
Tuesday 2/24: 6 PM – 8 PM
Wednesday 2/25: Closed
Thursday 2/26: 12 PM – 7 PM

Please be safe in the blizzard expected to hit tonight and carry into Monday ❄️

We only have crickets left for feeders.

Thursday will be our last day open to the public, and we truly hope you’ll stop in to say goodbye - not only to us but to Sol & Cosmo, our shop dogs 🐾 Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown Cold Blooded over the years.

Fri 2/20: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Sat 2/21: Closed

Sun 2/22: Closed

Animals still available: two Nigerian yellow uromastyx, one bearded dragon, and a few leopard geckos.

Thanks so much for bearing with us while we lock in our hours during these final weeks. Here are our hours for 2/11–2/15:

Saturday 2/14: 10 AM – 4 PM
Sunday 2/15: CLOSED

Today, Monday, February 9th, we will be open during our normal hours from 12:00 PM–7:00 PM. Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 10th, we will be closed. Additional hours will be posted as soon as we have more information.

We also want to take a moment to address some frequently asked questions and concerns we’ve been receiving through messages, comments, and in-store conversations:

1. What we currently have in stock is all that will be available. We will not be ordering additional animals or supplies. The only exceptions are lightbulbs and feeders, which will continue to be ordered until closing and will not be discounted.

2. The Sulcata tortoises have already been moved home and are not for sale.

3. Birthday parties will not be resuming. The cost of liability insurance makes them unsustainable.

4. We will not be creating or maintaining inventory lists. Stock is constantly changing, so we encourage you to stop by or ask about specific items or animals directly.

5. We understand that some may feel they would make different decisions in our position; however, these choices are ours, and they are final.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate these final weeks and prepare to close our doors.

After a lot of thought, hard conversations, and many sleepless nights, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to permanently close Cold Blooded Pets.

This was not an easy choice, and it’s one we fought against for a long time. We’ve tried to go along with the flow and adapt wherever we could, but at the end of the day, our hearts are broken. As a small independent business, we simply cannot keep up with Amazon pricing and big box stores. Hearing about some great deal elsewhere to our faces while we haven’t seen a customer all day ultimately highlights a reality we can’t escape.

Despite doing everything we could, we’ve reached a point where we’ve dipped into our personal savings just to stay afloat, and that’s no longer sustainable.

Our last day of business will be Saturday 2/28/26. The majority of our animals (excluding those already going to new homes or staying with us) will be available at discounted pricing. We will also be offering discounted sales on caging, enclosures, and other accessories.

Cold Blooded Pets has always been about more than sales: it’s been about education, ethical care, and advocating for animals that are so often misunderstood. We are incredibly proud of the community we built, the animals we helped place in knowledgeable homes, and the relationships we’ve formed along the way.

To everyone who supported us, shopped small, trusted us with your animals, and believed in what we were doing: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support meant everything to us, and this community is the reason we held on as long as we did.

This isn’t how we wanted the story to end, but we’re grateful for every moment, every customer, and every animal that passed through our doors. 🖤

As a local business, we absolutely love supporting fellow local businesses (duh 😌) but it’s an even bigger joy when that support goes both ways and they’re also familiar faces in our shop.
