Please welcome this pair of 7 year olds! In need of rescue due to owners medical issues, Layla & SayDee have landed. Upcoming vet care, skin issues then we will be looking for the right home. No small companion animals for these two!

***TEAR WARNING*** Holly ATB
It started with an email in December of 2017. A 6 month old bloodhound was overwhelming to her family. A series of transfers happened, trainers and fosters. She was escalating in guarding, she had no back up. Volunteers jumped in, resulting in young Holly arriving here at Daphneyland.
Holly came in, and indeed had a devilish glint in her eye. Stomping in p**p then jumping on wranglers to "give hugs". In 2019 a local search & rescue home sought her out for detection work in his home, and Holly was "Gotcha'd". Our adoption contracts are for life and in 2023, after some human health issues we got that call - the most honest call I may have ever taken: "I never planned to get old". Lifestyles change, things happen and Holly came back to us here at Daphneyland with a companion bloodhound mix named Scarlet. The last 3 years the girls have done well, Holly being a bit grumpy & bossy - Scarlet choosing to give Holly her own space when needed. Pumpkin chewing, tail chasing, frozen watermelon loving, blanket thieving, toy snatching, sardine munching life of a Daphneyland hound. Last week a lump showed up. Eating & playing fine, she was put on the vet schedule. Monday she flared. Yesterday her vet came and examined her, we wranglers already knew. Last night the hound who eats EVERYTHING refused food. This morning she told us it was time. From snarfing Avi's jerky, to Luis & Greg taking her on the last vet run - our not so little Holly was helped to the fields of green by Dr. Loken as the boys held her.
She passed peacefully. 9 years was not enough time, Holly-girl, we promise to take care of your Scarlet. Fly free baby girl and tug on all those long ears at the bridge - the ones on stilts and those pesky short ones too. Mariah of Hawaii has all the quilts. Thunder will show you the best spots at the buffet that require a boost. Janine - Catch, Holly is incoming like a jet!
The tears fall hard yet our hearts glow knowing you let us be your family. We love you. Now and forever.

***TEAR ALERT*** Karyn Baker ATB 5/2/26
Decades ago a call came in. A quiet voice asked "I volunteer with a different organization, but could you help me with some questions?". That voice was Karyn Baker. That call began a decades long friendship with an amazing lady! Karyn cared for every animal getting help, saving so many lives with every email, phone call, message. I can not remember a time when Karyn didn't donate items for raffles, auctions, or general use. From California to Washington, then just last year the big move to the east coast, continuing to help network hounds in need. Fostering Sadie Sue (and falling in love) Karyn kept her focus on the need. Every message from Karyn was like a warm hug. I learned of her passing today, and the tears flow hard. I will miss that voice, those emails - yet I know there is a big reunion at the rainbow bridge. For energy never fades, it transitions. We send our love out to Steve and every soul that knew and loved Karyn.
