🐾 Summer Celebrations Are Here- Is Your Pet Ready? 🐾
As community festivals, fireworks, and summer gatherings begin, it’s important to remember that many pets don’t enjoy the sights and sounds of the season as much as we do.
🎆 Loud noises can cause pets to become frightened and panic, increasing the risk of them escaping from yards, homes, or even slipping out of collars during walks.
✅ Microchipping is one of the best ways to help your pet find their way home if they become lost.
A microchip is only effective if your contact information is current, so now is a great time to verify that your phone number and address are up to date.
Here are a few ways to help your pet stay calm and safe during fireworks and festivals:
🐶 Keep pets indoors in a secure area
🎶 Use music, TV, or white noise to help mask loud sounds
🦴 Provide favorite toys, treats, and a safe hiding place
🚶 Exercise pets earlier in the day before festivities begin
🏷️ Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are current
💊 Refill or ask about safe anxiety medications
Contact Ackley Veterinary Center at 641-847-2636 before the celebrations begin to schedule microchipping and/or discuss medication options & alternatives.
❤️ A little preparation now can make a big difference for you and your pet later. Stay safe and enjoy your summer celebrations!
