Gillian is a 2-3yr old Anatolian Shepherd mix. She and her brother, Rawlings, were abandoned in the woods nearby and have been searching for a new place to call home. They do not need to be placed together (really… they’d be fine on their own) but adopting them as a pair could be considered for the right match.

Gillian is sweet & funny, and would make a nice companion in a patient and low-key home. She is nervous when meeting new people and needs some time and support to build her confidence in new places and with new people. Once she gets comfortable, you’ll see that sweet and goofy side that the staff has come to know her for. She rides nicely in the car (we’ve always crated her - she jumps right in, settles immediately, and doesn’t get carsick) and walks relatively well on leash (she doesn’t pull much, but does tend to be underfoot if she’s nervous).

All of her vetting has been done (she’s up to date on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and other common tick diseases, has been dewormed, and is current on her monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention). Her spay is included in the adoption fee as well, and is booked in November with our vet. Gillian has always been well-behaved at the vet.

Rawlings is a 2-3 year old Anatolian Shepherd mix. He’s a big boy, currently working on putting on weight and already weighing about 80 pounds, with a beautiful brindle coat and a LONG body. He and his sister, Gillian, were abandoned on the mountain nearby and we’ve been searching for their forever home(s) ever since. The siblings do not need to be placed together, but that could be considered for the right match.

Rawlings can be a really fun and endearing guy, though he is nervous in new situations and can take a bit to warm up to new strangers. Shelter life has been hard for him, and he’d really love a kind and patient home to give him the time and attention he needs to be his best self. He’s food motivated and likes to learn - though he may not be the smartest dog you’ve ever met, he really tries and once he knows something, he KNOWS it! He does climb fences when he’s alone and bored, so be prepared for that (he hasn’t ever tried to leave a yard if we’re with him, but will climb out to find you if he’s left on his own). His housebreaking is still a work in progress. He does ride beautifully in the car (jumps into the crate on his own, settles right down, and doesn’t get carsick).

All of his vetting has been done (he’s up to date on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and other common tick diseases, has been dewormed, is current on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and has been neutered). He’s always been well-behaved at the vet.

Tess is a 12-year old hound mix. She originally came to us back in 2017 after being rescued from an Arkansas shelter. We vetted her, treated her heartworm, and placed her with a family where she lived until a change in circumstances landed her back with us in August 2024. Since then, she’s been caught up on her medical care, lost most of the extra 30 pounds she came back with and has been patiently waiting for a new home.

Tess is a pretty easy keeper who spends most of her day lounging around but does still have some pep in her step to play with friends or go on walks. In the nice weather, she’s often found basking in the sunshine watching the world go by. She’s housebroken and is well beyond her mischievous / chewing years. She has no separation anxiety and settles well whether you’re with her or not, so would easily adapt to work-from-home, in-office, or hybrid routines.

She’s up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention, and is receiving routine flea/tick prevention. She has had a full medical workup and is in good health for her age. She does have some arthritis (for which she takes daily NSAIDs), a basal cell tumor on her back (that causes her no issues and the vet, therefore, doesn’t think needs any intervention at this stage), a whole collection of other benign lumps and bumps, and some lung scarring from her previous heartworm infection (so she may pant a bit more than normal, but the condition is stable). She is currently on a 1-month course of Doxycycline for an Anaplasma infection (from a tick bite), but her bloodwork is otherwise normal.

Tess is a resource guarder so she may growl or snap if you bother her while she’s eating or chewing on a bone.

While we would ideally LOVE to find an adopter for Tess, we’d also consider a long-term foster situation. Tess deserves to live out her golden years in a quiet home, away from the hustle and bustle of shelter life and we’re open to creative arrangements that would help make that happen for her.

If Tess sounds like she might be a good fit for you, please call 845-687-7619 to set up an appointment to meet her.

Jax is a 1-year old male Great Pyrenees. He’s had a really rough start in life. Originally found as a stray in Arkansas after he and his brother were both hit by a car. His brother, sadly, did not survive and Jax found himself in a crowded shelter until he was transported to us. He’s now been with us for several months and is a much-loved staff favorite but he really, really needs and deserves to find a place to call his own where he can experience more than shelter life has to offer.

Jax is fun and affectionate, gets along with dogs & cats, rides beautifully in the car, and appears to be housebroken. He loves to play with his friends and is always so happy to have a toy to fling around or a bone to chew. He’s fine on his own and settles nicely while you work, so he’d be appropriate for both work-from-home and in-office routines.

He can be a bit nervous in new situations (new sounds, traffic, and the occasional new doorway can rattle him a bit) so he will benefit from a patient home that will help him to build his confidence. He’s been friendly with people of all ages and even met a man on a horse while out on a walk recently and did amazingly well!

Jax is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, dewormed, has tested negative for heartworm and is on prevention, and is microchipped. Due to his breed and their tendency to roam, a fully-fenced yard will be required.

If you think you could provide Jax with the home he so desperately needs, call us at 845-687-7619 to set up an appointment to meet him.

He's upbeat, playful, and super social. He is housebroken, can settle nicely near you while you work (though he will occasionally nudge your arm and try to climb onto your lap), has made dog friends, and loves his toys.

Lenny is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, has been dewormed, has been tested negative for Heartworm and started on prevention... he's good to go!

If you think Lenny might be the guy for you, call 845-687-7619 to set up an appointment to meet him.

Gilbert is a 6-month-old male Great Pyrenees. He had quite the rough start in life; he and his brother were abandoned in Arkansas and his brother, tragically, did not survive being hit by a car, leaving Gilbert on his own. He is a sweet boy who, once he gains some confidence, will make a really nice companion.

He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and has been heartworm tested negative and started on prevention.

Due to his breed and their tendency to roam, a fenced yard will be required.

If you think Gilbert might be the boy for you, please call 845-687-7619 to set up an appointment.
