❤️ small animal volunteers needed ❤️

Do you have a passion for small animals? 🫵

Well we have the perfect role for you❗️

Our misc socialisers support us by helping with cleaning the accommodation and socialising the animals including: rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, small rodents, farm animals and more. 🐰 🐀 🐑

Our aim is to get all our misc animals used to everything thing they will come across in a new home. 🏡

This is anything from a simple 10 minute brush, talking to them, having a cuddle or sitting in their run with them. 🥰

Some of our animals haven’t had a great start to life so they need to start to trust people again. ❤️‍🩹

This week I was given the wonderful opportunity to care for Disco & Titch again! 🐱

These girls joined Spot On in my fairly early days, so you can imagine how excited I was to get the message that I would be caring for them again!

Although we had the hot weather to contend with, I made sure that the girls had everything they needed to be comfortable within my care. Each day I spend time grooming them, playing with all their favourite toys, changing litter trays and serving breakfast and dinner! 😋🐈‍⬛

Thank you so much to Cara & Jane for giving me the chance to care for them both again, and for the lovely review of my services! I’m so grateful 🥰

Wow what a week! ☀️. Thank you all SO much for accommodating this hot weather with me, for the cancellations, the time changes and all of it thank you! 🥹

I can’t put into words how much I enjoy slowing it down a little sometimes, seeing the pups at home and spending those little moments with them all. It strengthens the bonds that we have together and I’m so grateful!

I hope you all have the most wonderful weekend! ✨

🤍

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

I feel incredibly lucky that my main outgoings are my vehicles, because I know for so many others, these weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

We have a brand new member to welcome to the Spot On family - meet Leo! 🧡

A 1 year old Red Fox Labrador and the 5th the join me here at Spot On! I was contacted by his owner Lucy a few months back, who was really keen on Leo being on some solo walks. Alongside Lucy’s wonderful training for Leo, we have been working hard to build his confidence with other dogs, behaviour on the lead and out on walks and continue on this journey as he grows!

He’s been such a good boy, and so happy to see me each visit. I’ve loved spending time with him and can’t wait to see our bond grow even more!

A big thank you to Lucy for introducing me to your gorgeous boy! 🧡

Even though the hot weather can sometimes make this industry a little challenging, it also brings so many rewarding moments!

Pet visits allow me to slow things down for the pups and spend quality time with them in the comfort of their own home. We play games, enjoy cuddles, practice commands, and simply make the most of our time together. The bond I share with each of them grows stronger every day, and that’s what makes my job so special.

Here’s Minnie enjoying our Pet Visit this afternoon 🥰.
