There are a lot of new people and a lot going on around the house today, and it has Roscoe pretty overstimulated. But this is exactly the type of situation where he needs to learn that he doesn’t have to be involved in everything. He’s learning how to settle, relax, and simply exist calmly while the commotion is happening around him.

Since I don’t have any classes today, I’m taking advantage of the early morning weather by spending some quality time outside with Roscoe. He’s having an absolute blast chasing butterflies through the sprinklers while I observe him, evaluate his progress, and think about what we still need to work on.

So far, there really aren’t any major issues that stand out. The biggest challenge is simply teaching him how to switch it off, settle down, and relax when nothing is expected of him. For a young, high-drive dog, that’s often one of the most valuable skills they can learn—and it’s something we’ll continue focusing on throughout his stay.

I want to make sure this is absolutely clear to everyone who follows us or has ever been a client of VanBuren K9 Academy.

If you receive any marketing messages—especially through social media or text messages—claiming to sell merchandise on behalf of my business, do not click the links and do not make any purchases.

I have one business phone number, and it’s the same number we’ve always used to communicate. You will not receive messages from any other phone number claiming to represent my business.

Also, if you know me, you know I’m not the type of business owner who sends unsolicited or repetitive marketing messages trying to sell products.

If you’ve received one of these messages, please let me know. I’m trying to determine how these scammers are obtaining people’s contact information so I can better protect our clients and followers from future scams.

In this video, I want to show where Cooper started, where he is now, and the process we’re using to get there.

Cooper can be very reactive toward visitors, so I’ll be walking you through the steps we’re taking to reshape those behaviors in a practical, real-world way.

Our focus is on creating clear boundaries, structure, and accountability without completely overhauling the home environment. The goal isn’t to make the family change everything they do - it’s to make a few intentional adjustments that create a safer, more successful environment for both Cooper and his owners.

We had an in-home evaluation with Lucy and her family today, and over the next six weeks we’ll be working together through private lessons to improve communication, establish clear expectations, and create more predictable outcomes.

As Lucy begins to better understand what is expected of her, she’ll gain confidence, make better decisions, and develop a healthier view of the world around her.

Just a heads-up for everyone.

Last week, we had about a dozen scam comments appear on several of our posts. They were coming from multiple fake Facebook accounts claiming to sell VanBuren K9 Academy alumni T-shirts. I deleted the comments and blocked the accounts, thinking that would be the end of it.

Unfortunately, I’ve since learned that some people actually fell for the scam.

Please do not click on any links in the comments of our posts advertising merchandise or apparel unless they come directly from me.

If you’re interested in VanBuren K9 Academy apparel, I do have it available - but it will only ever be sold directly through me. I do not use any third-party websites or sellers, so if you see someone else claiming to sell our merchandise, it’s a scam.

That’s not even our logo.

Thank you to everyone who brought this to my attention, and please help spread the word so no one else gets taken advantage of.

Roscoe did pretty well last night. He only needed one potty break at 2:00 a.m.

This morning he’s already eaten, gone potty, and now he’s spending some time testing Oliver’s patience. 😂

It’s time for Roscoe and my dogs to start getting comfortable being around each other outside. They’re going to play a big role in helping him learn the rules, boundaries, and expectations while he’s here. So far, it looks like the introduction is going really well, and I’m excited to see how much he learns from them throughout his stay.
