Today, Monte and his wife, Carla, call Old Glory, Texas, home, where Jones Horse Training has been in operation for the past 10 years. Along with training outside horses, Monte continues to raise and develop horses of his own.

Since 1889, Spade Ranches has been a cornerstone of West Texas ranching. What began with Colonel Isaac Ellwood's purchase of the Renderbrook Spade has grown into a 250,000-acre operation spanning six locations across West Texas and the Panhandle, while remaining under the ownership of the Ellwood family.

Built on generations of practical ranching, Spade's horse program is designed with one goal in mind: raising durable, cowy horses that can go to work. Their breeding program combines proven bloodlines, including sons of Peptoboonsmal and High Brow Cat crossed on a foundation of Doc Bar and Little Peppy mares, to produce horses with the ability and longevity demanded on a working ranch.
