Genetics is work whose results become especially meaningful over generations. 🧬
Some years ago, I made the decision to personally genetically test every kitten I chose to keep in my breeding program. Receiving clear N/N results made our future work much more straightforward: when both parents are genetically clear for a specific tested mutation, their offspring cannot inherit that mutation from them.
This is exactly why responsible genetic testing is so important in breeding.
Quite a lot of time has passed since then. Those kittens have long since grown up and become parents themselves, and some of those lines now continue through their grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. For me, it is especially valuable to see that the results of work started several generations ago are still being confirmed today.
One such example is Gracefull Tassel Hanni. Hanni moved to Germany as a future queen of a small, officially registered cattery. There, she underwent extended genetic testing at the LABOKLIN laboratory, and once again the results confirmed N/N for the tested mutations.
For me, results like these are much more than beautiful laboratory documents. They are another confirmation that decisions made years ago continue to have an impact through generations. ❤️
Today, we no longer routinely repeat genetic testing for every kitten born to parents with confirmed N/N results for the relevant mutations, since these kittens cannot inherit those tested mutations from genetically clear parents.
However, I completely understand that some future owners may prefer to have an individual genetic report specifically for their own kitten. If you have any doubts, or simply would like this additional confirmation, we will be happy to arrange genetic testing for your kitten upon request. In this case, individual genetic testing may involve additional expenses on your part.
And of course, our work does not stop there. Every new male and female joining our breeding program continues to undergo genetic testing.
Because responsible breeding is not only about the results we see today. It is about understanding what we pass on to the next generation and working toward the health of those who will be born tomorrow. 🧬❤️
