This little lizard got a name fit for a dragon 🐉

Scientists have identified a new species of mountain horned dragon in the high-altitude forests of western Thailand, according to a study published in the journal ZooKeys. The yellow-hued lizard has been named Acanthosaura syrax, or the Syrax mountain horned dragon, after Syrax from "House of the Dragon." Researchers say the name was inspired by similarities including the animals' yellow coloring and relatively small size.

So far, the new species has only been found in the fragmented forests of Mae Wong. Researchers hope the discovery will draw more attention to the area's wildlife and help make the Syrax mountain horned dragon a flagship species for protecting its habitat.
