08.08.26 - close encounter with a Carpenter bee (Xylocopa nasalis)

They seem to love the sunn h**p as I regular see them coming or maybe it’s because there are not so many flowers around. I can’t wait to see more when the land will hopefully be filled with yellow flowers 💛🌼🐝

In my quest to re-wilding and restoring an diverse ecosystem, it always makes me happy to see life on my land 💚

28.07.26 Planting Vetiver grass on the south boundary, land access zone.

This will help to prevent soil erosion.
The poles are temporary and will look at planting tree edge but still haven’t decided on the species. I want a thick dense foliage for visual and sound natural barrier, maybe 3m tall max

Dropped a few seeds of sunn h**p as a test to see how they will grow on this bare soil and I am
Happy to see those beautiful flowers flourishing. Next time, as part of my soil’s regeneration and ecosystem building goal
-> massive seed drop to cover the ground as much as I can 🌱🌼 👩‍🌾

11.07.26 Update on the site GAIA 2 in Pak Phli

After a month since my last visit, the w**d is again taking over. Looks totally different from last time where a big part was burnt to the grown. It shows how with rain, it recover very quickly.

I lost a few seedlings as I planted too low near the pond and the rain cause flooding on the lower part.

I successfully managed to relocate higher
2 pineapples, 1 Chamchuree, 4 Bananas trees and 1 coconut.
The mulberry is doing well, as well the passion fruit.

Still a lot of work to do there. 💪🏻

😡🔥🌳🌳🌳😩😫😭

Those photos are from the other land in Nakhon Nayok still but located in Pak Phli
This plot is different as it’s in the middle of the rice paddies with no road access, so difficult for me to bring equipment.

I haven’t visited for a while and just found out that last month that important part of the plot was burned.

I assume this was caused by near by farmer who burnt their field after rice harvest 😡
Luckily I haven’t planted much then but most is covered with trees, primarily Acacia and some eucalyptus. Most survived the fire but some took a hit.
The only positive thing is that a big part of the w**d/bushes got cleared so that saved me a lot of time and the burnt matter will be beneficial to the soil.

However I am worry of this to happen again.
As I now started to clear and plant fruit trees.

The more upsetting matter is that I found out there was a hug PVC pipe connecting the swales and it all melted. (I didn’t know this pipe where in place)
Not only the pipe is now not usable but it had likely leaked toxicity to the ground 😤

It’s enraging when I try my best to regenerate the soil and use only organic matter.

There are swales all along the plot, the plot is elevated, given the pattern I guess the fire spread from some particles flying into my land.

It’s a shame that farmer continue to burn the field and I don’t know what I can do to prevent this.

I was also thinking about placing a weekend cabin some day when I have better access but that truly make me think twice. 😭

31.05.26 - 🍌 Planting more banana trees
Mostly Kluay Nam Wah variety dug out from the road side.

By now we have about 20, not only this will provide a lot of fruits but also shades, and green manure for chop and drop.

Will continue to plant more along the boundaries and start creating zone and expanding.

You can’t have too much bananas 😁
