Happy Birthday, Cher! 🎂 🎊

Wishing you a year filled with joy, good health, and peace. Thank you for all you did to help rescue Kaavan - the bull elephant from the Islamabad Zoo - so that he can now live safe and free at Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary. May your life continue to bless the lives of many others. 🙏

Ming looks so happy and relaxed rolling around in the mud on a rainy day while her elders watch over her nearby. Her playful, yoga-like postures and joyful body language reflect the freedom and ease she feels living safely in her forever home.

Elephant Sanctuary Laos was founded on the principles of compassion and respect for all life, providing a safe haven for rescued elephants where they can forage, play, socialize, form lasting bonds, and simply be elephants in the peace of natural jungle surroundings.

Mo Ser Bley looks contently grazes in a field of lush green graze beneath the glow of the morning sun. After pulling up tufts of grass, she carefully dusts away the dirt with quick flicks of her trunk.

Since arriving at Karen Elephant Home around 10 months ago, Mo Ser Bley’s life has transformed. Now, she spends her days foraging freely and socializing with other elephants as part of a small peaceful herd.

Spend a day with the elephants at Karen Elephant Home, learning about their individual stories while gaining a deeper understanding of elephant behaviour and local Karen traditions from a family who have been caring for elephants for generations. 🐘💚🌿

Having just enjoyed a delicious fruit cake, Heng Heng playfully picks up a banana leaf, swirling it through the air. She skilfully strips the succulent leaf from the stalk, then happily munches it down before reaching for another leaf. 🌿🐘✨

Experience observing elephants foraging in the forest, playing in the mud, and swimming in the stream, ending the day with bamboo rafting or making an elephant fruit cake. Visit and support the elephants at Karen Elephant Serenity at: www.asianelephantprojects.com/karen-elephant-serenity

Jan Dee loves to scratch and is good at finding the perfect rock by the river to use as a scratching post.

Elephants are well known for their diligent skin care practices that include mud baths, dust baths, water baths – and exfoliating against lovely, smooth, giant rocks. So satisfying!

Sri Prai and her friend Ruaysa relax side by side under the jungle canopy at Sunshine for Elephants. These two beautiful elephants have developed a close bond over the past couple of years and can often be seen communicating and showing affection for one another.

Mother and daughter relax happily in the river together at Elephant Sanctuary Laos — young Ming and her mother, Mee, completely in their element.

No tricks, no riding, no performances — just elephants living freely, safely, and peacefully in a place where they are treated with dignity and respect. Watching a mother and daughter simply be elephants is a touching and meaningful experience.

Wishing a very Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers around the world. 🐘 🩷

A touching moment shared between Gee Lee and project owner Boothu at Journey to Freedom. 🐘💚

Gee Lee was born in 2017 and is the first daughter of Nong Pon, who is now also the mother of Luna. Sweet-natured and friendly, Gee Lee has grown up enjoying a natural life in the jungle alongside her herd, never having to work or perform.

Boothu, a member of the Karen hill tribe, grew up learning about elephants from both his grandfather and father, who spent their lives caring for elephants. Having lived closely with elephants since childhood, he possesses deep knowledge and understanding of their ways.

Gee Lee has known Boothu since the day she was born and shares a close bond with him, often showing her affection for him in the most natural and spontaneous ways.

Visitors to Journey to Freedom not only have the rare opportunity to observe a beautiful herd of elephants living freely in their natural habitat, but also gain insight into the traditions and way of life of the Karen hill tribe people.
