[English below]

Can Elephants Distinguish Colors?
Elephants can distinguish colors, but not as completely as humans do.
Research has shown that an elephant’s color vision is similar to a type of human color blindness called deuteranopia.
Most people can see many primary colors such as blue, green, yellow, red, and various mixed colors.
However, people with this type of color blindness mainly perceive only two primary color ranges: blue and yellow.
Elephants are similar in this way.
• Elephants can see blue and green tones better.
• But they have difficulty distinguishing red, yellow, and white, which may appear similar or look grayish to them.
In experiments, elephants were able to remember green and blue blocks more accurately, but became more confused when identifying red, yellow, and white blocks.

Quick Summary
👉 Elephants can see only some colors clearly
👉 They see blue–green tones best
👉 Red and yellow may look similar or not very different to them
👉 In daylight, elephant color vision is considered a two-color (dichromatic) vision system, mainly based on blue and green perception
