She's such a sweet, gentle, special kitty! Had the pleasure of petsitting for her for the third time today after getting to know her at Paws for Compassion, a local cat rescue where we volunteer. She's been thriving in her new home. She must be protected at all costs!

August 8 is International Cat Day! It’s always cat day every day for cat lovers, but we certainly welcome a special day dedicated to these incredible animals!

Sharing some photos of cats we’ve loved throughout our lives that we haven't really posted about since creating this social media recently. We've been petsitting since 2012 after all!

First up is Espy (aka S.P. or Sweet Potato), the Zambian cat who transformed Adam into a forever cat lover. Smart and elegant!

Lianne impulsively took in Ilini while in Zambia because a man showed up at our house with a kitten tied up in a sack on his bicycle, selling her for 30 Kwacha or $2 USD. Cats were not well liked in our village and didn't live long, so I impulsively took her so we could at least provide a home in the meantime. She was so tiny but grew up well. Since she liked eating eggs, we eventually settled on Ilini, which means egg in Bemba.

Joyce is Lianne's childhood cat her family adopted when she was 8. Joyce lived in Lianne's room for the first few weeks as she adjusted and was kept separated from Milo. Lianne and Joyce bonded deeply. She'd follow Lianne everywhere and sleep on her every night. She will always be so special to me ❤️

Milo is the first cat Lianne's family adopted. I remember the moment we picked him from a litter from the people who were giving them away. Milo was such a beautiful unique cat with gorgeous blue eyes and the most distinct meow I've ever heard.

Peanut belonged to our host family during our Peace Corps pre-service training in Zambia. He often came to our nganda and was the cutest thing!

Chip is one of the first cats we petsat for together! 6 weeks in Sydney, Australia. Adam was working for Nikon at the time and took lovely photos of the pets during that year housesitting throughout Australia. Isn't he gorgeous?

Sasha is a lovely Russian Blue who we petsat for in Sydney. We enjoyed getting to know the kind family, too!

I (Lianne) had the honor of caring for Finnigan the corgi again for a week in Malaysia! We cared for him and his late brother Tali for three weeks in 2024. We still have the bracelets they made for us and I wore my black cat charm bracelet 🐈‍⬛

Finny has the same happy, cheeky, smart personality. He is still energetic and lots of fun but also chill, happily splooting next to me while I'm working or cuddling on my lap on the couch. We enjoyed our daily walks in the neighborhood, fetch, lots of cuddles and belly rubs!

He also gained new siblings - a tortoise named Kura and hamsters Charles and S'mores. It was my first time petsitting for a tortoise. She was fascinating to watch and had a cool, calm aura. The hamsters hibernated in their little house most of the day but came out to stuff their cute cheeks at meal time. Hamsters were my first pets as a kid so I am extra fond of them!

The family are the kindest hosts and I'm grateful for their hospitality again. We love repeat housesits so we can build stronger bonds and know what to expect going in. It's also beneficial for the pets and hosts to feel more peace of mind since we understand it is a risk having a stranger care for your home and furry friends. Thank you for those who trusted us!

Lucky me got to care for Stevie again for the day! How precious is she 😻 Spoiled her with chin scratches, playtime with her new squeaky toy, and got some fresh air on the rooftop overlooking the ocean at sunset. She is such a special kitty.

For the last 4 months, we’ve been volunteering at a local cat rescue called Paws for Compassion. Truly a wonderful organization!

Stevie (formerly known as Sienna) is one of two blind cats who lived at the house. You can read her story as written by Paws. We got to know her during a few shifts before she was adopted by a fellow rescue helper!

Stevie is such a gentle, precious soul. We miss cuddling with her at the house, but ecstatic knowing she would get even more love in her forever home.

Fast forward a few weeks, I (Lianne) had the opportunity to petsit for Stevie for one night. I was so happy to reunite with her! We played with her toys and my hands (usually we don’t encourage hand play with cats, but she is special and can do whatever makes her happy 😹), took her on the rooftop for some exploration. Was sure to strictly adhere to the time-sensitive medications morning and night as well as clean up as she doesn’t use the litter.

Stevie is so loved and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue seeing her! Paula is a wonderful and grateful host who prepared for my stay thoughtfully.

Looking forward to seeing her again in July 😻

Hi, here for an update! Still loving life in DaNang and taking a break for being traveling petsitters. It's been about 4 months of daily visits to Pizza. His little friend who we tentatively named Nadia (derived from garlic knot lol) was TERRIFIED of us for months, but we're making progress. Milestone that she let me pet her! We used to leave her food far away and she'd come and eat when the coast is clear, but now she approaches us.They are so sweet and playful together. He doesn't eat her food but sometimes he lets her eat his. What a gentleman! So now we're in love with two cats. We encountered more people in the neighborhood who know and care for him so that puts us at ease.

Lianne is booked for a repeat sit in Malaysia and very much looking forward to seeing the cheeky Finny and meeting his new siblings, a turtle and two hamsters!

Then we are open for catsitting in Chiang Mai from mid September to February. Looking forward to coming back. Get in touch!

It’s been a while since we’ve updated!

We're still visiting the stray cat we love every single day. It’s been over two months together. We are hopelessly in love with him. He has since shifted to another location down the road. He stays in the garden of a villa where some foreigners live. We spoke with them. They feed and care for him, but their landlord doesn’t allow pets either 😢

The other little cat (we call it his girlfriend) is also around most of the time. She is really afraid and we haven’t gotten close, but making progress as we lay food out and she eats it. I’m glad at least they have each other.

Every time we go to see him, we end up spending about an hour on the sidewalk cuddling and playing with him. We haven’t 100% decided on a name, but I think we’re close.

The name: Vincent Pizza 🍕

There are many layers why we came to this decision. Let me explain 😹 This is nerdy.

1. We thought of the name “Vin” because his coat and markings look like our Vinfast black and white scooter.

2. He has a marking of two “V”s on his head. I thought “Vy” would be a cute name as it’s Vietnamese (usually a female name). V is also relevant to me as a BTS fan 💜

3. We thought maybe Vincent or Vinnie from Vin.

When we were playing with him last night, we talked about popular food names for cats that happen to be Asian foods: Ramen, Kimchi, Tofu, Miso. They are cute and all, but they are ordinary foods in Japan and Korea.

I said it would be like naming a cat “Pizza” which sounds so funny. Adam lit up saying “YES. PIZZA IS THE PERFECT NAME”. I rolled over in laughter because imagine calling a cat PIZZA. Sorry that is so funny.

His rationale is that he LOVES pizza and he also LOVES this cat. His “V” markings also look like a triangle like a slice of pizza.

The pizza place that my family frequented where I grew up in New Jersey was called “Vinnie’s Pizza”. What are the odds? This is full circle.

So I think the universe spoke and his name should be Vinnie Pizza or Vincent Pizza. I will personally call him “V” and Adam will likely call him “Pizza”
