Trainer Cheryl (M.D.T - My Dog Trainer) explaining how to observe and intervene during puppy play.

Healthy puppy play is important because it gives puppies opportunities to learn how to control their strength and adjust their play style through feedback from one another.

Humans don’t always need to step in. We intervene when play becomes unsafe, or when a puppy doesn’t adjust their play after receiving feedback from another puppy (or dog).

Learning to observe play and knowing when to step in is an important part of helping puppies have positive experiences with one another.

One of the assignments I worked on as part of my continuing education with DogNosticsEducation Education.
This particular module took me almost 2 months to complete.
The training process is surprisingly intricate, with so many layers of finer details that I had to work through, revise and fine-tune.
Thankful for Cookie’s patience in doing this with me.

Reactivity // Progress Check
About 4 months of hard work and some progress. Coupled with adequate off leash play with well paired dog. It isn’t perfect yet, she still barks and lunges sometimes, but it’s progress. Kudos to their very hardworking owners! 👏 👏
