Animal lovers in Singapore have put up a billboard in support of Wang Wang, a dog who died after four boys in China reportedly set her on fire.

The billboard, which was put up at the Wilkie Edge building in Selegie, called for an end to animal abuse.

According to a Facebook post, the billboard of Wang Wang was only on display on Aug. 28 and 29.

Wang Wang and her puppies were reportedly abused and killed by four boys under the age of 14 in Jieyang, Guangdong, China.

The case sparked widespread outrage and gained international attention.

According to the BBC, the International Organisation for Animal Protection, based in Italy, said it had received more than 100 reports from people around the world calling for the organisation to intervene.

The incident has also reignited scrutiny over China’s lack of comprehensive animal cruelty laws.

Stricter laws in Russia: up to 5 years in prison for severe animal cruelty

The legal framework in Russia has become increasingly firm against violence toward animals. Through amendments to its Criminal Code, authorities aim to ensure that the most severe offenses do not go unpunished and receive sanctions proportional to the damage caused.

Penalties can reach up to five years in prison when abuse results in the death or serious injury of an animal, making it clear that these acts go beyond administrative offenses and are prosecuted as serious criminal offenses.

Furthermore, the law provides for harsher punishment when aggravating circumstances are present, such as:

Internet broadcasting: Recording or sharing images and videos of abuse on social media.

Group action: Involvement of multiple individuals or premeditation of the crime.

With these measures, the goal is to set a strong precedent against cruelty and promote greater respect for animal life.
