We just talked about feeling hopeless and then it happened
I made an unscheduled visit to my feeding area just to top up water and food for them due to the crappy weather.
The worker came up to me and said
"sis the cat died outside"
Took me a second to understand what he said
I was holding their water bowl and it fell to the ground, water splashing around our feet.
I ran out looked around and saw the body on the grass patch.
That moment was so difficult, It hits me in the gut and i cried like a baby.
I rang up the other feeder to let him know.
We try to figure out who it could be.
But we knew it is likely Polly
She loves to talk to us, loves running over from her area to this side and follows us around. She is maybe around 2 years old.
We talked about removing them just the last few days, like we have talked about it for months as we gradually re-home the others.
It is so hard to find a space for adult cats, in reality, even harder when they are tabbies. No one wants to be stuck with them as adopters for them don't come easy too.
The other feeder also had to prioritized catching 2 other cats just the night before as one was injured and brought them into safety.
I just fed her on Wednesday night and on Friday she is gone.
So badly .. her eyes were popped..her jaws broken. Part of her tongue was gone too.
But I am not going traumatize anyone.
Mobile Pet Cremation is taking care of her today. They sent the photos, trying to avoid her face but I can see it all.
Strangely a dried up leaf was stuck to her forehead and they didn't remove it.. maybe because of the the wound ?
I don't know.. I didn't ask , didn't want to know. She went with some style after all.
*Just hope the other cats and dogs are not going to laugh at her in the animal paradise *
Like many feeders and rescuers, we know the high risks in the industrial areas and often we can only hope that If it happens, it will be fast and not be too painful
Run free young girl .
Always a part of our memories
Mobile cremation $105 ( we have paid for it)
