Holiday highlights: just scratching the edges of 10 amazing days in Panama and Argentina ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ท.
โ
Panama City: the old and the new.
โ
Watching a huge ship carrying vehicles going through the Miraflores Locks on its way from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean - wow!
โ
Gamboa: where we saw Howler Monkeys, White-nosed Coati, Central American Agouti, heard tons of birds along the Pipeline Road ๐
โ
Boat ride on Gatun Lake: White-throated Capuchins and Geoffreyโs Tamarins
โ
Gamboa Rainforest Discovery Centre: up close encounter with hummingbirds ๐ฅฐ
Then itโs onward to Argentina:
โ
Buenos Aires: superb tango dancing; a secret speakeasy bar hidden behind a fridge door in a flower shop; where Eva Peron is remembered (for good or bad); an opera house made over into a bookshop; the famous Recoletta Cemetery; street art etc
โ
The Pampas: gauchos we certainly are not ๐
โ
Finally at Iguazu Falls: we experienced rain and were drenched, but also saw the Falls when it was sunny and rainbows danced among the water spray; we were soaked again on a high speed boat ride through the water spray. A Black-fronted Piping Guan posed on the bridge; Rufescent Tiger Herons foraged in the Iguazu River; South American Coatis fed on fallen palm fruit; Plush-created Jays foraged and scavenged; Black and Turkey Vultures circled in the sky.
But best of all, Toco Toucans treated us to a breakfast show of their bill fencing display โค๏ธ!
Another great adventure to digest and remember ๐.
