That greasy feeling on your cat’s coat can come from their own natural sebum. But their coat also picks up things from the environment, such as dirt, debris, and even oil from your hands.

When oil, loose fur and debris clump together, the coat can become more prone to tangling and matting.

Living with a cat in an HDB flat? Here are a few things every Singapore cat owner should know 🇸🇬🐱

1. Pet cats must be licensed and microchipped.

2. Secure your windows and balcony with suitable mesh or grilles. Cats can fall from any height when chasing birds, insects, or other distractions.

3. Give your cat places to climb, scratch, play, and hide. Indoor cats still need to use their natural behaviours and release their energy, especially in a smaller HDB space.

4. Keep toxic plants and cleaning chemicals out of reach. Always use pet-safe cleaning products and store chemicals securely.

Elsewhere, in Japan, black cats are associated with good fortune. In Scotland, they have been associated with prosperity, while British and Irish sailors once considered black cats lucky ship companions ⚓
