We may be a little late with our National Day post this year! Mama’s back decided to make sure we took things a little slower.
But being a little late gave us some time to think about what Singapore means to us.
We often hear people say that the kampung spirit isn’t quite what it used to be. And perhaps in some ways, that’s true.
Singapore has grown into a highly developed city and life today is certainly very different from what it was years ago. Our lives are busier, our schedules are fuller and our homes have become our own private spaces. We don’t leave our doors open like we once did.
But the longer we are in this business, the more we realise…
There is still a whole lot of kampung spirit around us, especially within the furkids community.
In the customers who become friends.
In people sharing recommendations and helping one another without expecting anything in return.
In the little messages to check in, the sharing of advice, the passing along of contacts and the people who are always willing to lend a hand.
Sometimes, you don’t even know the person you are helping and they may not know you either.
But somehow, there’s still this willingness to look out for one another.
Maybe the kampung spirit today doesn’t look quite the same as it did in the old days. Our doors may not always be open like they once were but our hearts may just be even bigger ❤️
And perhaps that’s what makes this little island so special. Beneath all the change, there is still so much kindness, generosity and community around us.
We are incredibly grateful that our journey with Cody N’ Toby has allowed us to experience that first-hand, through the people we have met, the friendships we have made and of course, all the furkids who somehow brought us together in the first place.
So here’s to Singapore 🍻
small in size, BIG IN HEART and carrying a whole lot of kampung spirit 🇸🇬❤️
Thank you for being our home, for giving us a place to build our little dream and for surrounding us with so much warmth along the way!
Happy National Day, Singapore 🇸🇬
Majulah Singapura!
