🐱✨ Cats can do acupuncture too!
Meet some of our feline patients who visited us for acupuncture support:

💙 Baby Seah — Chronic kidney disease & arthritis
Acupuncture can help promote blood flow to the kidneys, support comfort, appetite, circulation, and mobility in senior cats.

💙 Gauge and LittleB — Forelimb lameness
Acupuncture can help manage pain and encourage more comfortable movement.

💙 Kaiser — Idiopathic seizures
Acupuncture can be used as supportive care to help calm the nervous system and support overall balance. Kaiser has been seizure-free for 5 months now, and without any seizure medication! 🥳🥹

Many cats tolerate acupuncture surprisingly well when sessions are gentle, calm, and cat-friendly. 🪡🐾

Here’s to our brave little acupuncture kitties! 😻💙

Ever noticed your dog bunny hopping, getting up slowly, or hesitating before jumping?

Sometimes, these can be signs of hip dysplasia, a structural condition where the hip socket is too shallow or misaligned.

It can make the hips feel sore or unstable, especially after rest or during activity.

The good news is, there are many ways to support them 💙
Depending on your dog, management may include rehabilitation, acupuncture, weight management, joint supplements, pain medication when needed, and in some cases, surgery.

Every dog’s plan looks a little different. The goal is always better comfort, strength, and mobility. 🐾

Patella luxation is one of the most common orthopaedic conditions we see in dogs, especially small breed dogs. 🐶

It happens when the kneecap (patella) slips out of its normal groove, most commonly towards the inside of the leg (medially). This can range from occasional slipping to the kneecap staying out permanently.

Signs you may notice:
• Skipping or hopping while walking
• Suddenly carrying one hind leg up
• Difficulty jumping or climbing stairs
• Bunny hopping gait
• Stiffness or discomfort after activity

Some pets may only show mild signs occasionally, while others can develop pain, muscle loss, arthritis, or reduced mobility over time.

Management depends on the severity of the luxation and your pet’s symptoms. Treatment options may include:
✨ Weight management
✨ Rehabilitation & physiotherapy
✨ Acupuncture
✨ Pain management
✨ Surgery (for more severe cases)

Early intervention can help improve comfort, mobility, and long-term joint health 💙

✨ Moxibustion for Pets ✨ A gentle TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) therapy that uses therapeutic heat to warm acupuncture points and improve the flow of Qi & blood circulation.

The gentle warming effect helps to:
🐾 Improve circulation
🐾 Warm and strengthen the body
🐾 Relieve pain and stiffness
🐾 Support healing and recovery

In veterinary TCVM, moxibustion is often used for pets with arthritis, weakness, neurological conditions, senior mobility issues, or “cold” patterns in TCVM diagnosis.

At Bluewater, we use both traditional moxa and smokeless moxibustion options for pets who are more sensitive to smell or smoke. 💙

Every rehabilitation and TCVM plan is customised based on your pet’s condition, temperament, and needs.

Just like people, every pet is unique - and that means their rehabilitation should be too. While our furkids can’t tell us how they feel, their bodies, behaviour, and recovery responses speak volume.

Factors that influence a rehab plan:
- Species, breed & age
- Clinical examination findings
- Concurrent medical conditions
- Pain tolerance
- Temperament
- Stage of recovery/post-op timeline

A one-size-fits-all rehabilitation plan simply doesn’t work. It could:
- Delay healing by over- or under-loading injured tissues
- Increase the risk of re-injury or complications
- Fail to address individual weaknesses such as muscle loss, reduced range of motion, or poor balance
- Negatively impact comfort, welfare, and quality of life.

Personalised rehabilitation plans allow targeted, progressive therapy, adjusted to each pet’s needs and response, helping them to move more comfortably, recover safely, and live better - at any stage of life.
