My mentor said cats should feel so safe during blow drying that they eventually fall asleep.

Meanwhile, me:

💨 Dryer on.
🐱 Cat sleeping.
🙋‍♀️ Groomer standing there questioning all life choices while holding the dryer for 30 minutes.

But honestly, this is the goal.

A cat that’s relaxed enough to nap during grooming is a cat that feels safe.

I don’t wear gloves when grooming Jeemok.

Not because I’m brave.

Because Jeemok believes fingers are appetizers, not the main course. 😌🦷

Honestly, the tiny bites don’t bother me.

The real challenge?

Blow drying that thick coat.

By the end of the session, I’ve groomed one cat, lost one shoulder, and collected enough fur to build a second Jeemok. 🌪️🐱💀

Not every grooming session is about achieving a perfect finish—sometimes it’s about building trust. 🐾

This handsome boy has handling sensitivities and can be particular about certain areas, especially his paws and sanitary region. Rather than pushing him beyond his comfort level, we focused on positive reinforcement throughout the session.

Using food rewards, I was able to gradually work around his paws, clip his nails, and perform the necessary sanitary grooming while helping him feel more comfortable with the process.

With support from his veterinarian, he was also on a dose of gabapentin to help reduce stress during grooming.

Every small success matters. A cat that accepts nail trimming today may be more confident with grooming tomorrow. Building trust takes time, patience, and consistency—and that’s exactly what Fear Free® grooming is all about. ❤️
